System locks when ever I try to Join Multiplayer game?

I am very frustrated with this game!!!

I can play single player all day with no issues and can also host a LAN or Dedicated internet game without any issues, however when I try to join either a LAN or Internet game, my system locks completely at the server list screen?!? I can only get out of that screen by Re-booting??? I can ping the server list and see other sytems on my LAN but can not connect ever??? Yet others can connect to me both thru Dedicated-internet and LAN w/no problem? I am running a P3-1GHZ w/512MB RAM, a Voodoo 5 5500 and Wicked GL drivers. I yanked the Gforce 3 from my other system thinking it was video, but it did the same thing when I was put the Gforce in my system? I have uninstalled/re-installed this game about 10 times and still can not get it to connect!

I am running ISDN (don't ask) thru a Netgear modem/router and have tried placing my system completely out side the firewall, but still the same???

I called Lucas Tech support and they said to return the game for a refund as I can not play it on my system??? What kind of answer is that? 4 of my friends are running basicly the same system as I am (Voodoo 5 & all) and they can play no problem? I guess the force is not with me??? I'll give you a dollar if you can figure this one out????!!!

Its definitely a firewall problem. I'm not exactly sure how you go about fixing this, but look through some Quake3 forums, tons of people have had the same kind of problem.

Make sure you really are bypassing the Netgear, search around for "netgear and Quake3" to see if you can find any solutions.

I do not agree!!! I can play the game no problem on my backup system on the same network thru the same router/modem? If it is firewall/network related, it is specific to my main system?!?

Back up System:

P3- 600MHz

256 RAM

Gforce 2 mx 400

SB Live

I don't personally have a router, just relaying to you what I've seen in the past in various Q3 groups about funky things happening to people with Netgear routers. I've seen all sorts of complaints, but since I don't share the problem I've never looked through the discussions enough to see if anyone has it fixed.

If its only locking up when you're trying to resolve a server list, it would seem to me to be a network/firewall problem.

I will try and e-mail Raven...

Lucas Arts was no help?

I have tried opening the specific ports as well as placing the system "outside" the fire wall and still, lock up city...

As I said, I can ping the servers OK, but the instant I click join (either LAN or Internet) the Friggin thing locks big time!!!

What I do not understand is that the other system on the same router/shared ISDN line connects no problem? This is a weird one and I, for some reason always come up with the ones that Tech support can not figure out???:(

I'm having a similar problem and I'm not behind a firewall or anything. I can play ONE ROUND of MP. When the current map ends and it's time for the next one to start loading, my machine locks hard and doesn't come back. This has been a pretty consistent problem...
