Elias Peterson
I haven't had a problem with JK2, but my girlfriend gets the white screen error - and I haven't had any luck fixing it. She's well within the system reqs, is running DX8.1 and the Winfast Drivers. So far, I can say that the following tasks do not fix the problem: 1 - Upgrading the Operating System - got the same error w/ 98SE and XP 2 - Downgrading / Upgrading the display drivers - tried older detonators, no dice. It's a GeForce4 4400. 3 - Downing the Bus Speed - It's all supposed to run at 133, but I tried it at 100. Just in case. 4 - Reinstallation of Jedi Knight / Patching Jedi Knight / Jedi Knight Safe Mode - None of these things worked. 5 - Oh yeah, changing the desktop color depth doesn't magically make it work, either. Actually, I think that it's giving me a _black-screen_ no-activity mouse-cursor-visible-but-frozen now. It's a total computer freeze - we have to restart to free up the machine. I'm going to take the machine over to the local computer store today and see if they can help me out. My only suspicion at the moment is the motherboard, really - I have no clue why JK2 would have a problem with it and Q3A would not, but it's worth some sort of shot. Jesus, this is frustrating. Demolisher
I get this sometimes too, along with the game freezing and crashing during the game. Raven, please come to this forum!!
Pitson
I had this problem (P3 1ghz, GF2mx400 , 23.11's), it started to load ok when i changed the vertical sync option in the opengl tab to off by default. I'm not saying this will work for everyone, but it's worth a try.
j3i)1_/\/\4574
Are all you guys running Windows XP? Becasue if so, run the program in compatibility mode for Windows 98/Me (go the the .exe file and go to properties. You'll probably need to do it on the sp and mp .exe files, not the generic startup .exe file) I had the exact same error in several Quake III based games, and this fixed it in all of them. Good luck!
