how do i remove accessories?

i want to try to make a yoda :))) skin using the ugnaught

how do remove any accessories (like the communicator and the "lunch box")? or do i have to make a new model (this is my 1st experience is skinning so i dont think im ready for it yet)?

Using the SOF@ModView, under the surfaces tab, you can turn on and off different surfaces. The Jan model is a good example of this. You can remove the vest, chaps, and belt and then find the appropriate surfaces to fill in where the vest, etc. was.

 

To turn on and off surfaces, right click on them in the left hand "tree-view" side and select ON or OFF. Surfaces that are turned off will have a bunch of slashes before them "/////".

 

Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to save the different surface configurations so the model uses that instead of the default surfaces. Hopefully when Raven releases the mod making tools, there will be an easy to save the surface configurations.

 

Otherwise, if you check out the npc.cfg file in the assets0.pk3, located in the "ext_data" folder, you see how they turned on and off surfaces there when defining the characters. I hope this isn't the only way of doing it, because it seems to me like that would require making a "mod" for new surface configurations since you can't edit the npc.cfg and save it back to assets0.pk3 and play on a pure server.

 

Good luck and lets hope to see those Outcast tools from Raven soon.
