Quick question! SERIOUSLY LOOK

Wake

Recommended Posts

I have recently had to reformat both of my hard drives 2 times each because of jedi outcast... ive heard that many of you have had a problem with the game freezing (this may sound bad but im glad im not the only one :p ) well thats fine and dandy but whenever my game froze... i would reset my computer and scandisk wouldnt run... i thought "gee that sucks" well actually this is going to turn into multiple questions.... but anyway after a few more freezes my computer would keep rebooting itself after it checked my harddrives... but right before it did it would flash something... for prolly 3 tenths of a second. i let my machine boot over and over again untill i finally made out what the message said... it said "Invalid boot.ini" weird eh? well after i reformated the first time it did it again.. only quicker... this only happend when i was playing single player... well anyway my first question is... Is there any way to run scandisk THROUGH windows XP

and my second question is... what can i do about the single player freez problem... i fixed the MP freez problem but im too damn afraid to play SP again... (i got so damn far i was at that part that you had to find desanns ship ... actually i beat that part..) and finally when the game freezes did any of you hear a high pitched ringing sound come out of your speakers?... thanks a bunch i hope i get some replys cuz im just so scared to play SP! :D oh and stop whining about Wake using grip and push! its part of the game! :duel:

Okay, had same problem, -------> answers

1.) First make sure you have the most recent drivers for video/sound., I have a GEforce2 and I had driver #1108, and the most recent one for GEforce2 series is the Detonator XP drivers.

2.) Go to setup, or options, if you have Sync frame rate with monitor refresh, make sure it's off, unless you have an uber computer, because my monitor refresh is slower than frame rate, so therefore it would freeze.

3.) If you don't have such an uber computer, turn down some settings, I had mine maxed, I turned off Monitor Refresh, I lowered the grahics detail on BOTH down to High, not very high, and I turned off the "Shadow Detail" or something like that. Ever since, it hasn't locked up.

4.) Also, if your computer is beeping and freezing, it might be overheating, so either get a new cooling fan, or don't let it get hot, I had that problem with Everquest, and I set a portable fan down next to my computer, worked like a charm.

hope this helps! ;)

NP, btw, the graphics look great with them at high, very high, there is very little difference, and the "Shadow Detail" option, I don't notice anything, and the monitor refresh is just for fps, so have fun, glad to help, and the graphics will still look great, I have it set on 1280 res, and I have everything maxed execpt detail and shadow =)
