Saber Fighting Technique

Here's some things that I have found to be very useful when fighting with the saber - the manual is woefully inadequate on a lot of fighting styles, but hey, you're supposed to discover on your own I suppose:

 

DOs

 

1) Force Push + Forward Top-Down Hack

 

Should be fairly obvious...when a foe is near a wall or close to you, push them so they fall on the floor. Charge forward and execute a top-down hack, timing it so the hit will connect as soon as they get up. An excellent finisher, particularily devestating if you can pull it off on Strong stance.

 

2) Force Pull + Horizontal Swipe Attack

 

Make sure to only use the force pull when someone is moving - it makes it easier to pull them directly to you. Execute the pull, then step off to the side and execute a horizontal slash as they come to you.

 

3) Force Pull + Jump

 

If you can pull an enemy right up next to you and hit the jump button when they are right in front of you, you will deliver a dandy little kick, sending them backwards. One of two things could happen instead, however - you skewer them on your saber, or you get skewered.

 

3) Sidestep + Saber Throw

 

This works best if your foe is charging in a straight line towards you. Sidestep to move out of the way of their charge, and then do a quick saber throw. If you can pull this off while they are in their attack motion, you'll likely score a good hit.

 

DONTs

 

1) As good an idea as it seems, don't run into a pack of enemies twirling around like a madman. You'll end up getting your goose cooked. Instead, push or pull enemies away, or use any other handy force abilities you have. A saber throw works too. Sometimes.

 

2) If you're standing near a large group of concentrated enemies, don't pull them to you - you might pull all of them to you, and well... see number 1.

 

I don't by any means claim to know much of anything about this game, but I'm going to keep on playing. This is just what I've found to work pretty well. Hopefully with everyone's help we can all progress to the point where we actually look like we're dueling with lightsabers.

dont....blah...blah.... UNLESS you have lvl 3 dark rage installed, then go at it like a chimp with vasoline and a large banana.

 

PS: I don't mean unaimed, nooby twirling. I mean the dodgy, aimed kinda twirling that is very deadly with DR.
