Boba Fett - Man, Myth, Moron.

Why not fight for your man, tell us why he rocks, I mean, I originally wasa big fan of Boba Fett, and then some people pointed these various things out and I realized that basically the only thing he has going for him is a cool look. I was swayed to one side with good logic, I could be swayed to another side with better logic .

Jango Fett is a badass in episode 2. He beats obi-wan in a hand to hand combat fight, without jedi like reflexes, and he was wearing that heavy mandalorian armor I won't tell you why Obi-Wan didn't have his lightsaber. Boba is a clone of Jango, given as a gift in return for his dna or whatever. The rest of the clones have had their aging process sped up, boba is the only clone with no genetic altering. Boba Fett is meant to be at least as good as Jango.

Well, I would put some spoiler warnings on this, but after having read this thread it won't be anything new to you. Boba is not, I repeat, not Jango's son. All of the clone troopers in Episode II are Jango clones, and Boba, too, is a Jango clone.

 

The difference between Boba and the clone troopers is that the clone troopers have been altered by those who do the cloning to make them more obedient. Because of this they obey orders without question.

 

Boba, on the other hand, is a completely unaltered clone of Jango Fett. Jango requested Boba, and the cloners gave Boba to him as a gift, as has already been said. He is not Jango's son. And he doesn't fight off anybody to protect his father.

 

Jango is a character similar to his son in, oh, so many ways.

OTH Boba Fett was a real challenge in Dark Forces, took me ages to get past him.

Jango Fett gets sliced in half by Mace Windu, and could have quite easily died to Obi-Wan if certain circumstances would have been different

 

 

The bounty hunter hype is overdone IMO.

From what I deduced in the book, Jango did NOT beat Obi-Wan in hand to hand combat. Not by a long shot. And also, the armor was not exactly a detriment to him; Obi-Wan had to go for a crack in the armor just to get to him. Also, I have a feeling that if Boba had not shot the turbolasers at the Jedi, the fight would have ended much more quickly with Obi-Wan taking Jango into custody for a good old fashon Jedi interrogation. The fight was uneven, and Jango had LOTS more equipment than Obi-Wan. I would pick Obi-Wan over Jango ANY day (jango couldn't even finish obi wan off when he had a huge advantage), and besides, mace windu killed jango very easily =)

The clones of Jango are not only made to grow twice as fast, their DNA has been spliced so that they will be more obedient and docile. (Imagine a whole army of Jangos running around) Boba Fett was a present from the Kaminoans (spelling?) for giving his DNA. Boba was not engineered like that, and Jango is basically fine tuning himself vicariously through Boba. He is grooming himself to be the best bounty hunter. (His failure is mirrored much how Clinton failed to groom Gore properly for the presidency) In truth, the clone army was ordered to be made by a Jedi Master who died about the time of Episode I, by the name of Sifo-Dyas. I have not found ANY information about him at starwars.com, and if anyone can point me in the right direction for info, I would be greatly appreciative.

I am a fan of the EU but I just dont think the future of starwars should be told by no-name authors. I mean come on, I think it was the cystal star when they killed off general crix nadine, it just gets too crazy.

Obviously you guys are forgetting one VERY important aspect about Boba's rise to fame:

 

After ESB The Boba Fett action figure was only offered by mailing in Proof of Purchase. He still wasn't THAT popular but then as I remember Every Kid on the block HAD to Have him.

 

After that everyone seemed obsessed with Boba.

Darksaber, it was Darksaber where he died, and it just goes to show you that I REALLY don't like KJA (how that follows...I'm not entirely sure, bit it follows!! ). And for the record I haven't seen any SW authors who didn't have more than a few books of their own out there...I wouldn't call them non-names.

flying quietly through customs with spice neatly stored in your cargo hold? i think you need to get your facts straight also...given a bounty hunter vs a jedi (knight and some padawans) i would pick the jedi ANY day....boba and jango are not that great....and in episode 2, he is around 10 years old, not exactly "the best bounty hunter ever"

 

boba was the best bounty hunter ever, but hes still no match for a jedi

dont even try to tell me about obi wan...it was luck, and you all know it

 

besides...he failed..his objective was to kill obi...he obviously did not do that, and that spelled the end for jango, and the beginning of a long battle that would have been resolved much more quickly if obi wan the messenger would have been killed....
