chengjr
Hi guys. I'm somewhat new to this, so please excuse my relative lack of knowledge for JK II gameplay. I am having trouble creating a server for my friends and I to join. Can somebody please give me a brief tutorial on how I should go about doing this? The problem is that I have created a server, given it a name, set the specifications, etc...I join the game myself and then tell my friends the name of the server, but they are unable to see the name on the server list. Also, when I do a search for my friends' names, it does not come up on the "search player" list. Bottom line: how can I set up a server so that my friends can find it on the server list and subsequently join it. Thanks! I apologize again for my stupid questions *LOL*
Daynor
you could always tell your friends the ip and then they could add you to their favorites and join that way
[TE]DarthBob
Make sure you stop by the Help Center/Dedicated Server forum and read the Dedicated Server FAQ. We have all been there and the answer to your question is there.
MarS_888
I think I read somewhere that it can take a while (up to an hour or longer?) for your server to shows up in the list. So the best way is to just give your ip and connect via the console: > password "PutPasswordHereIfAny" > connect xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
tomservo51
Also, if you are behind a gateway or a router your IP my not be routable, hence your friends wont be able to see your machine anyway. If you are using a 9x client (98 or Melenium) Click your start button, then run, type WINIPCFG. If you have an IP starting with 10 or 169, then your outta luck. Or you have Windows 2000, Click start, run, type command, then type ipconfig. This would not be the case unless you have more than one machine connected to the internet through you cable or DSL.
