MP unplayable even with DSL.

if i host on LAN, everything is dandy. but when i go into a game hosted elsewhere, my ping is reasonable (200ms) but its a slideshow, and suddenly, it shoots up to 999 until i have to quit. in the meantime it warps everywhere, and i generally die alot.

anyone experienced this or no how to solve either problem?

Go to http://www.dslreports.com and run the speed tests. There are also tweak testers there that can recommend possible tweaks. Unless you are connecting to a server a few continents away, you should not be having these kinds of probs.

 

P.S. The site also works for people that are using cable modems like me.
