Connection interrupted 13 mins into a game.

JK2 and Quake 3 have the same netcode correct?

If so, what is my problem here.

I go into a pub/match server and almost everytime at 8 mins or 13 mins into the game I get "CONNECTION INTERRUPTED" yet i can still hear the sounds, see people running around, see text etc.

I heard it could be the netcode not liking some settings/programs i might have.

Im running a p3 1ghz, geforce2 gts, college t1 connect

I know its not the connect because when i run a teamspeak server for a match/scrim it stays running even tho jk2 is connection interrupted..

Please shed some light onto this question for me. Its been bothering me for weeks.

I get the same problem now as well. I don't know whats going on either.

You're pinging 999 too when this happens right?

I don't see how another program could be causing our problem though. I think It's just a netcoding error on ravens part.

Lots of people seem to be having problems with the multiplayer.

For example, I think our problem is closely related to the CL_ParsePacketEntites error, which I originally thought I had. They both have alot of similarities, only we don't get the error message popping up.

JK is based off of the Quake 3 engine but that doesn't mean the netcodings the same. The programmers make changes to the netcoding for each game according to what they think will work best for it.

I am having the same problem here. I used to have a similar lockup in single, but that was fixed by switching my mouse from USB to PS2. My symptoms are identical, 8-15 minutes into a MP game, I get "COnnection Interupted" everyone will run around for a bit then usually with a sound lock-up or a general lock-up.

I've tried everything as far as turning off other programs, tweaking hardware setting, loading new drivers, etc... I smell stinky netcode.

My system is a Athlon 1GHz, 384MB RAM, Win98, with Cable Modem.

I hate this, I'm getting the same problem. Except I play for not even a minute and it goes Connection Interrupted with the pretty little phone jack picture at the bottom, but I can see fights going on around me, people moving, parts of the level moving (cars, etc.), I hear sounds like the guns, everything that is a part of the level that makes a sound, I can see text, I can type and people can see my text, it's just my guy basically freezes and runs in place. My friend made a game and I joined it, he said he saw my guy running in place, and it wasn't exactly lag, because I was talking to him on the phone at the time, he could read what I typed right after I pressed enter.

If anyone is still reading this thread and solved the problem... PLEASE HELP!!!

Comp Specs: P3 800 MHz 256 PC-133 RAM WinME GF2 GTS 32MB Cable Modem

And it's definitely not the internet cause my friend has cable, the one I joined the game w/.... so.... plz help...

1 suggestion everyone should do is goto http://www.lavasoftusa.com and get adaware, run it. Spyware can interfere with network settings, and in some cases, such as COMET cursor, even modify the windows sockets.

I get this problem all the time, the strange thing is that i keep getting this one in RTCW but Q3 and MOHAA are working fine, other thing is that i have been waiting a long time for the tech support to answer but still no answer...

EDIT : I am starting to get a bit bored to Jedi Knight II , single player is wonderful but too short since i cant play multiplayer because of this problem it keeps getting a bit boring, i wonder do any of those devs/tech support persons even check this board ? or their e-mails ? first day when this game was released i e-mailed the support about this one , still no answer.. this is not fun anymore well....... :swear:

  • 3 weeks later...

I get the same problem, it runs flawlessly for about 8-15 mins, and then lag city. It doesn't always just sit there on "Connection Interrupted" but if it isn't, my ping is 999.

This is definately bad netcode, nothing is using the BW, I have a cable modem, and it runs FINE whenever I create a server. Is this issue going to be addressed? Will anyone ever actually reply to this post? Are they watching us?

The fact that you can still see things happening is an interesting problem.

To me that says one thing:

Your downstream channel is fine, no problems with receiving data....but your upstream is being stolen/choked by something.

If you see people move then you are receiving data, but if you cannot move yourself then your aren't sending much data. I would put my money on spyware, even if you don't think you have any you should get Ad-Aware and run a complete scan anyway. I promise you WILL be surprised by what shows up.

I used Ad-aware too. I still have the same problem as well.

I only had 1 spyware entry though, because I manually deleted the registry entrys and spy programs before I had Ad-aware.

I'm smart enough to know when something on my computer is messing up the connection though, and this is not a problem with my computer. I still blame the netcoding.

Interestingly enough, I saw three posts on this thread that have the same vid card I do. Geforce 2 GTS, I have a 64meg DDR model from creative labs. Could it somehow be video related? Worth checking out I guess...
