JediDrew
Since so many people have trouble getting this game to work, I just know that Raven will release a patch. I'm guessing it gets released in 6 weeks.
Thrawn05
I figure 8, only because you need to give them a couple of weeks to stay stubborn, mad, and in denial from the fact that they botched the game.
Triger Hapie
I say never. Rememer, load times and graphical glitches are NOT a problem on their computers. Remember, 256MB RAM SHOULD be fine. Hey, it's fine for them!

Triger Hapie
Everything should be fine. If it's not, oh well... can't enjoy the game.

Exitium
Seeing how well this game runs in my local cyber arcade puts tears in my eyes when I realize how it freezes every time I try to play it. I don't think that they'll be patching it any time soon. If it works for the masses, why should they care about a few lost sales?

Err what freaking drugs are you on? Raven has never claimed to make perfect software. No company ever has. If your so damn great at it though, where do you work? What software company has made you head programmer, engineer, or designer?

raiden
maybe you guys should forget that it isnt easy to find such rare bugs in several 100000 lines of code. especially when you dont have a pc on which the bug exists. so it takes some time to fix such nasty errors in the game ... and to make sure that the modification of the code doesnt cause a new bug. and of course they will not release every small fix ... or would you like to download every 5 hours a new patch ... so they put it all together to one big patch and release it when they think that the worst bugs have been fixed but unfortunalty this takes some time. (btw i know that it really s**** to be not able to play the game and i'm sure raven knows it too)
Threetall
There will be a patch, but I dont think Raven will release it. I think they are done with this game and moved on. If you think about it, they were merely contractors for LA. Their job is done and the LA/StarWars reputation will absorb bad news or reviews. Some enterprising code group or individual will announce a fix or patch, and Raven will support it but not endorse it. Plus, the trend now is to blame Microsoft. Realize that once they start blaming MS, they have lost interest in supporting JK2 (all above is my opinion.) Also, Raiden, code is done in modules or segmenst to make it easier to debug. Is there a debugger reporting tool in JK2? Idont know but it would help the community to decipher problems.

Errors should be written to the console, if not a log file, you can then consump filename and send it to raven if need be. I have yet to see raven or lucasarts blame MS for anything. It is most likely that RAVEN is contracted to do the patches by lucasarts, as they have relesed a dedicated sever patch already, so.......... I'm still waiting to hear who made Thrawn a head programmer, since he OBviosuly knows so much about writting bug ffree software.
Threetall
Thanks for the bug report tip. It would be good to know more about the post-release relationship between Raven and LA.
netskimmer
I've been working with a tech support guy from raven over the phone (that's right a real live person!!) and the first thing he said was that he had no knowledge of a large scale problem with the game!!!!!! Then, after over an hour of troubleshooting the c@#k sucking son of a #^%* said it was a "system specific problem" meaning that my pc alone was the one to blame and the only thing I could do was send them my game so they could send me a sealed copy so I could get a refund at the store i bought it at. He also mentioned that they where releasing an update in about a week, he said it didn't adress this issue but it may inadvertently fix the problem. ( it could happen ) P.S I apologise, my spelling sux when im mad.

Yeah, but I am sure they are kind of busy wirking on logging bug reports and trying to track them down at both places. As to the bug report tip that SHOULD have been condump not consump. Err, oops. ummester
It seems to me that the general concensus is fairly cynical. I must say, i can't disagree... Big game companies are ripping us all of, including the coders and artists who are contracted to create their products. Hence the lack of support for a product after it is released. If the original sales keep the publishers and investors rich, they don't care about the consumers... so why should the game developers. Here's a tip. If it's a big brand game, copy it. If it is from an up and coming company, buy it. Ever notice how many patches are released for games from up and coming companies. Eg. Homeworld, Serious Sam, Drakan... About the only big company that takes care of the consumers is Blizzard, that is why they are top of the PC heap. Westwood also puts a token effort in and that is why they are surviving... As for massive companies like LEC, gone are the days when they give a crap about PC users - they have atleast 4 consoles to make sales on. I'm not saying Raven didn't care about this product. They put a good effort in and were obviously inspired by the liscence. I'm not holding my breath for a worthwile patch, though...

Its just you netskimmer, Poster55, just owned someone.Thrawn, perhaps your just over the age of 70 and have halfheimers. ftp.idsoftware.com I'm not gonna say anything else about people's so called perfect software, heh....................... Lucasarts perfect software, LMAO, You ever try rogue commander? Shudder................. The language you use to program is less than one half of what we are talking about here. Certain languages may be prone to certain mistakes, like say forgetting a semicolon or using a null pointer, but the majority of software mistakes are language independent, like forgetting to initilize a variable to a specified value or misspelling a function or file name........... Neverending loops manage to show up in every language, as well as decision statements where the test yields an invalid result. Heck these even cross teh realm from modular programming to object oriented, which I seriously doubt you clearly understand the meaning of those two terms. Now I ask you one more time, WHO HAS hired you and your software engineering expertise? I take it so far the answer is no one because you don't have the foggiest notion what your going on about. The least error prone software is aviation software, and its not written in C++, they choose Ada because of its exception handling. Actually certain military software probably is more secure, but alas. I have no idea what language was used for it, and likely never will as its something they call classified I am sure. JediDrew
Hah! I code in Fortran90, the language of kings. No seriously, Fortran90 rules. I doubt it would be useful for gaming, but it sure is a great language.

H, I stand corrected its Fortran 90, I have a friend who is an Electronic engineer, and recognised the handle [so John, when we gonna lan, E-mail me at Ratboy91@yahoo.com, I'm looking foward to gripping you out ]. bkbroiler
I really hope they end up patching a the game, even though it runs pretty well on my system. It's good to see that the company still cares about its game after they're done with it. Plus, its cool to see if they release any extra things with the patch! (boy they got some really cool smilies here!)
d08z
I got it to work after getting new drivers and using the quake 3 rename for my voodoo 3. However, for all ppl still experiencing problems, it would be nice if ravn released a patch as fast as "SERIOUS" did for SS2 (1 week)
SAGOA
I'd like to get an official answer to game hosting issues I've been having (56k on the internet, my friend and I can create a game, but the other can never see/find it). I know that many others have been having similar problems as well, though most can make an IP connection....that doesn't work for us either. I know it's only 56k, but it should still work............
