skinner needs help!!

I've made a few skins for Counter Strike and I've started a Maul skin for JK2, trouble is it just won't work for me in game. I've got the icon in the setup menu, so I click it to select model, but when the game starts it just uses one of the standard game models.

 

I got Michaels Changs guide to skinning off the site and followed it to letter...am I just retarded?? Any suggestions would be much appreciated, I'm pullin me hair out here.

If I read Michaels tutorial right, I should be able to run the game with an unzipped folder in base/models/players/jedi (i'm editting the jedi model) and it should work in game. When I run it like this I only get the icon but no player. I've tried renaming the jedi folder to maul but I get the same thing.

 

I've tried zipping with both folder names but I get absolutely nothing doing this. I'm 99% certain that I'm zipping them correctly (correct paths etc.). What is the best prog for zipping? I'm just using winzip.

ahh problem solved...got a copy of cutezip, everything zips up and works fine now. phew.

When you don't put it in a pk3 file, you MUST put sv_pure off.

 

sv_pure 0 and it should work without zipping it up.

Where can i find this tutorial? I wanna make skins, but I'm not sure what files i need to get outta the game.

Help? i'm not new to the boards, I'm new to this game though.

on the jediknightii main page, click on the link for "guides" on the left hand side of the page. Think there only 2 or 3 files in there, one of em is the tutorial.
