Changing difficulty levels during the game?

I chose Padawan difficulty to start with, just to get used to the game, and thinking that I could switch to Jedi or higher once I got going. But now I find that I can't change difficulty, and I'm on level 5 and don't want to start over!! Does anyone know a way to change the difficulty--just to switch it higher--for saved games?
