Unprettier
Can't start JO .. it's because of the subsystem .. something like that .. what's wrong? I have a nVidia GeForce 2 MX. Please help, someone. I want it to work, please! I have not OpenGL, and no internet on the PC yet. But I will have soon. If someone gave me instructions on what to do, that would be terrific. Please help me, guys ..! ~ Finn This seems common with scaled down nvidia cards, so do me a favor... right click the desktop, choose properties, then select setup tab advanced button, and the tab with your device name on it. se if there is an nvopengl.dll file listed in the box. and if so does its version match the other driver versions?Fi so, clikc on additional properties button Opengl tab. and set it up like so. Checkboxes Enable buffer region extension - checked Allow the dual plane extension to use local video memory - checked use fast linear-mipmap-linear filtering - checked Disable support for enhanced CPU instruction set - unchekced. Drop down boxes: Default color depth for textures: Always use 16bpp Buffer-flipping mode: auto-select Verticle Sync:Always off leave any others at default setting If you have a 3D AA tab, go to it and set it for Manually select AA mode, and then Off [no antialiasing] I am beginning to wonder if everyone having this problem has an INTEGRATED chipset or do they have AGP cards? BlAcKTaLoN
I'm getting the same problem he's getting but with a TNT 2 ultra, I did everything whitechedda said, and im still getting the same problem, but now it just goes blank after the launching box then turns my screen area to like 800x600 and gives me an illegal operation message. I've also got the latest drivers and everything.
squirtle
make sure you also have "hardware acceleration" turned up to 100%. This was a problem for me with Quake 3 long ago.

I beg you..! ~Finn OK, you have to get to display properties, if your having trouble with the first way [right click blank are of desktop, choose properties] then instead go to control panel and double click display. [control panel is start button>settings>COntrol Panel for US version, I get the feeling your not a native English speaker though, so it may differ on your system. To the TNT2 User, Ok, so you had an nvopengl.dll and the file version matched the rest of the files too? correct? Can you give me any more information abvout the error, can you see what the console says, etc....? I assume your not running background aps or overclocking this card now...... If you are, you need to remove them and try first. I am going to try and create a single player config file that uses minimal effects, so we can see if the error is there in any way. I will post it to this thread later today, with instructions on how to use it [hopefully]. Unprettier, I am sorry I did not get back to you tyesterday, but i do have to do my job first, and I work for the Department of Ag & Consumer Services in Florida, so you will have to be patient. In the mean time since you say you have the "Latest drivers" do me another favor.... Look at your monitor, i have a hunch its set to unknown, and if it is let me know and which OS you have. OK there, this script at http://user.gru.net/rattboy/jk2config.cfg should be as minimal as possible, both sound and graphic wise, backup the current one in your base folder and place this one in it, then try to run the SINGLE PLAYER game and see what happens. If this helps, we'll work on multiplayer next.

WhiteChedda
Originally posted by Unprettier I don't understand, I am on properties, but there's no Advanced Setup Tabs .. what to do? It should just be settings, its the place where you set resolution and color depth for the desktop, it SHOULD have a button that says advanced. Click it a another box will be shown, from there locate the tab with your chipset on it, and the Additional properties BUTTON. Another box will be drawn and it will have an OpenGl Settings tab or at least it SHOULD. Like the boxes below

Err, hmm, wonder why more ram is required under those OS's. I assume they themselves require more ram. but I think you can reduce w2k down to only using about 63MB if you just remove unrequired stuff, at least I can at work, so........... But you are probbaly right, though there is another issue with 3dfx cards, thier drivers were not 100% opengl compatible last I recall, so you might try getting the wickedGL drivers for them. I lost that ability after I downloaded Microsofts patch for Nividia drivers. It will reappear if you install the latest detonator driver (28.32) or if you totally unistall your card drivers and install with 23.11. It drove me batty for awhile too. simonsel
Threetall: the only way to solve the could not open subsystem thing is to update your drivers. i had the same problem with my voodoo 4 and every voodoo user has had it with windows xp. since 3dfx is not making any more drivers you will have to download some 3rd party drivers that support windows xp from http://www.voodoofiles.com there are tons of drivers there that work with windows xp. if you download one and it still doesnt work try another. this will work hope i helped. Please help Chedda. I have run out of idea about what could be causing this. It has to be driver related. However, the only viable solutions left are wipe your harddrive and reinstall from scratch, in the event some part of the system os corrupted, or try some Leaked drivers for your video card.
