Guest jom
Hello I've looked through a page or two of the thread here and I couldn't find the info I needed. I'm having a problem with the save game function. Anyone seeing some odd things with this? I've saved games in the middle of a level but when I come back later or play a new game these earlier "saved" games don't start again at the point in which I saved them. I checked the files and they don't seem to be over-written but now they only start the level at the beginning. I was a good way into level 4 and saved but now I can't start where I left off. Also, why isn't this set up like JK1? You used to be able to play different players and have games saved for each (say a different player for a different difficulty). I can't play a different level without screwing up previous games. Any help?? Thanks jom

Chiles4
Yeah I've noticed some whacked out things going on in the Save Game menu. It's very hard to describe but sometimes it like gets confused and older level names appear at the top of the list after a save. When it gets whacked, I delete all the unneeded save games, go back into the game and keep saving until I can see that the thumbnail is right and then I'm okay. But yeah, why couldn't they just copy the save game functionality of say, Deus Ex? It's not that hard a concept to implement!
Mezkal
Forum goers, Raven and LucasArts Firstly, there is a problem (or more specifically a limitation) that causes this to happen. I found it due to the fact that I was saving very regularly during the sections of Nar Shadda - coz I can't jump (I'm white - sue me ) and kept dying all over the place (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! *splat* *lightsaber clangs*). The problem with saves is this.....Raven has only allocated 100 save slots in the game engine. How do I know this?? Well when you save you'll see some text popup over the save menu gfx stating that the game has written a file called jediknightii.xx (xx being from 00 to 99). If the game engine runs out of save space...ie it has written 100 save files already...saves begin to get all screwy (Like my technical definition? - heh). So I started Deleting some of my older saves (A very strange Save/Load Menu option for sure - but it gave me a clue - Raven decided to offer "gaming detective work" even in the game menus) and saves began to work fine. Personally I think this is kind of ridiculous. As someone already pointed "How hard is it to write a save function" (I paraphrase). with current technology we have HUGE hard drives and SCADS of RAM so why this mind numbingly stupid limitation?? Raven, I hope you reply to this and offer it to be fixed in upcoming patches. Mezkal
cousin_itt
I ahve a similar problem. I can save a game ok and have deleted older save files. However when I try to access them, say after I have died, It will either not load at all, ( not freezing my PC, but not reading the save game slot either) or will restart at the begining of the level. I found if I quit the game completely, the game WILL load correctly. This gets to be a real pain in the a$$ quitting the game everytime I died. ( Im stuck in the red room and this is getting to be quite bothersome) Any ideas on why I have to quit the program entirely to reload a saved game? Guest jom
"pain in the a$$" is being kind. I went thru one of the early levels and saved. Having found out I didn't find all the secrets (I like doing that...) I tried to back but noooooooooo...I had to start all over again. Also, anyone know why you can't save games for MORE than just ONE person. Again, in the old JK1 you could play different players, either yourself at different strenghts OR different people on the same computer. I mean, can this really be THAT difficult? Geez... jom
