Possible freezing fix (worked for me)

Here's a fix you may want to try, it solved the problem for me.

 

It turns out my memory couldn't handle the speed it was running at, even though I was running it at the speed and CAS Latency it was rated for. I downloaded this memory test program:

Just put a blank floppy in your drive, run the install.bat, and boot off the floppy. It starts the test automatically. Pay close attention to test #5, it's the one that failed for me. I lowered my bus speed, and it passed. So far, I've played over 5 hours of JK2 with no crashes, when previously the game would crash within 15-30 seconds.
