stuzzy
I have a Voodoo 5 64mb card. Right after I bought it 3dfx went out of business. It worked fine with Win98, but I upgraded to XP (stupid move) and i had to try multiple sets of drivers until I found something that would work with XP and half life. Finally I found something that would work with half life and XP, yay me. Then I bought this game and I'm in the same boat again. Whenever i launch the game the screen goes blank. I've tried alot of different stuff already, and will probably just end up playing the game on my laptop (p3 1g, 256mb ram,32mb geforce go) but I am bummed. I see the posts about Voodoo3/4/5's and them not working well with the game, most running win98, which is probably the best operating system to have a voodoo card running in as it was the last release of *official* drivers, I think. I've got the double whammy of having no support for my card in my operating system, and no support for it in the game. This card cost me 300 bucks, and like whats been said, 3dfx was a standard for a long time. When I plopped down 300 samoleans on this baby I though I would be SET for a good long while video card wise, and I should be. The bummer of it all is that the cards can handle the game, operating sytem, whatever, no problem. It's just that since 3dfx is not a player anymore nobody real gives a crap about the people who have their product, therfore no support is given for them, or if it is, very little. This disturbs me. I buy alot of games because I believe in supporting the gaming industry so they will continue to make games. But with crap like this happening, it seems I need to download a hacked version first to test it out on my system and make sure it works with my video card. But why buy after I've played the hell out of it. That of course is not the answer, but it make me mad enough to almost do it. I have a friend who never buys any game and i constantly give him s%&t about buying games. But when the software compnaies don't even bother to support a video card that was recently top of the line why bother being an advocate. Enough soapboxing....some helpful links. 3dfx Underground Voodoofiles :fett: :fett: :fett: :fett: :fett:
