Mavital
I'm not too sure about you guys, but personally I see no point to CTF games in Jedi Knight. Essentially, its half of the team running around trying to kill each other and the other half using the speed force to snag the flag. What it comes down to is more of a "hunt" type of game, where the flag carrier of each team is tracked down so that a cap can be made. This is a shame, since CTF is the only gametype that remotely fosters teamplay. Lets get some posts goin... What do you guys think needs to be done with CTF to make it a more team oriented game? One-hit sabers? Rounds w/ one death per person? No powerups? Just trying to get the thought process going. Mavital (Flame me if you must)
[del] Twitch
I've actually gotten to a couple Team FFA servers where I really felt like part of the team. We dominated by being smart and communicating. Hopefully I'll see more of this In CTF, which frankly I've only tried once or twice in JO, I enjoy having to wait to be respawned. It's not one death per arena (which wouldn't be good here, since there *are* those big pits everyone *loves* to be Forced into. ). You'd have to think more about what you were doing, since you can't really kamakaze with great results if you had to wait. Ultimately I think the community just needs to hunker down and learn how to plan as a team. Sigh...seems as if that's said about every FPS that comes down the road... - Twitch
Jow
Twitch said it all... I rarely ever see people playing as a team in any FPS. That said, I think properly played Jedi has the potentialfor some incredible teamplay. Some maps, like the Bespin vents, are more difficult to team well on because of the long narrow corridors. A couple guys on D with wide-effect weapons can really spam those corridors up. On maps like Warring Factions, though, it can really come into its own, with offensive teammates helping cover the retreating flag carrier, assaulting the base from multiple levels(with proper timing), having support troops sniping and homing rocketing from the approaches to the base, etc. Spend some points and try out the team-based force powers, too. Although I really haven't had the opportunity to use team energize much, I've used team heal quite a bit and it works GREAT. Imagine a 3 or 4 player team with every single member revved up with level 3 team heal. *drool*
