CheshireKat
O.K. I've just finished my Jedi Outcast Model, but I need some more details on modeling for this game. My model is built, and I'm stepping into the UV mapping area, then on to segmenting it. But I could really use some more Info. Please leave anything SOLID that you may have. moore+
He built a really really sweet 'ladymaul' style mesh, and he's asking if anyone has any info other than 'wait for sdk' so he can get some more work done on it.
UniKorn
Look on the quake3world forums under the modelling/skinning forum. There are lots of links there for uvmapping.
CheshireKat
Already know how to Mapp her, but I want to know about segmenting and such. After looking at SOF2 model viewer, there seems to be a ton of TAGs and stuff, plus another load of bones, but I can't figure out a whole lot from that. I got my motor running, and if I stop I know I'll be screwed. I'm like that you know. So I want to keep going, but I'm at the point were I need some more details. All help is appreciated. I've Mapped the head, and am skinning it now, but I think I have to stop after that. Oh, and thanks Moore+
moore+
Your welcome. It's a wicked model, I bet if you posted pics you'd get people scrambling to help (if there is indeed any info out there yet regarding sof2/jk2 specific stuff)

BloodRiot
AWESOME! Dont forget to add smooth groups. Luved the face tattoos... kinda like maul's.. but still they are diferent.... nice..very nice. What did you use for modeling...and... err.. (this is kinda embarassing) i'm doing the boba/jango fett model and I err... (this is really embarassing).. i dont know how to uvmap. *runs to hide in a hole*... ....*whispering from the dark hole*: could you tell me how to do it? this is my model:
CheshireKat
Blood Riot, if this is like Q3 Smoothing Groups will be automatic. Otherwise I will add them. I rendered them without for feedback from other modelers, so they could see the Poly Flow. Also note, once Skinned, it too helps to smooth the model out. As far as UV mapping, This is my second model ever, so explaining it wouldn't do you much good, but I'll leave yousome links to some good tuts. They're not the way I map, but I could never explain it to you. I suck at that sort of thing. http://www.planetquake.com/polycount/cottages/pixelated/three.shtml This guys way is supposed to be the best, but I haven't figured it out yet. and You may want to stop by here: http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~polycount/ubb/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro&BypassCookie=true It's where I hang out, and a damn good place for serious Modelers and Skinners, who want to take it to the next step. Quite alot of Pro's hang out there, so getting feedback from them is priceless. Good Luck Skinmapping, It's so far proven to be my biggest challenge. Thanks for the feedback. Oh, and I use Max to model.
