CyberSith
ok I need some help here. For some reason my single player framerates lag like crazy: If nothing is going on I get like 50 fps or so. Then when 5 Stormtroops pop up its like 15 fps and below! If I point up and look at the clouds like in the 3rd level I get like 70 fps and its all smooth, then I point down to the map and its 30 fps, then fights are 15 fps or so. What baffels me is I have an extremely fast computer. P4 2 Ghz Geforce 2 64 megs 512 RDRAM 60 gig 7200 rpm HDD Sound Blaster Live! soundcard Multiplayer.....its absolutely fine, it never chugs, runs perfectly no matter what is going on the screen. HELP!!! SP: Res. 1028X782 (or whatever that is above 800X600) Med. Texture detail, Med. geometry, no dynamic lights, volumetric shadows. 32 bit color. 32-bit textures I run Return to Castle Wolfenstein on exactly that and I get 60 + FPS
Jokis
This is weird because MP should only be the extension of SP problems. We're seeing the reverse in this case. I can only suggest fixing your Windows cache file and your virtual memory. But that would also still be the case for MP...very weird. Maybe changing the detail for the time being, you're not getting *that* much of a change in detail when you go from Normal to High, for example. In general, all the graphic levels look basically the same; it's just the rendition of the textures...the higher the level, the smoother the things are. I think the main reason for the problem is how the MP and SP play code are designed. MP is designed to allow for no buffer. Meaning, MP netcode allows for the smoother experience naturally. Compare it to SP where the code expects the pre-buffer...like long load ups for levels and higher details. Because the SP game can take more memory and time whereas in MP, every second counds. I'm not really making much sense, I'm a little tired. But I understand what I'm trying to say, so hopefully you do. You should try closing all possible programs as you can, defrag your computer, and free up some cache and virtual memory. That's the best answer I'm going to be able to give you. NoodlyGod
Does it get better when you lower the resolution?
mj_sf
this is for u cybersith - to get decent fps in single player mode, open to game from the singleplayer exe in the jediknight base directory (or which ever directory its in) goto the graphics settings and reset them to default. close the program, re-open it and alter you graphics settings back to wat you use in multiplayer mode (ie pretty high for me). after youve dont this all the single player lag should be gone. its all due to the videocard having to be reinitialised after you change something on it such as drivers or tweaks etc. Regards, mj_sf
