Ok, So I was impressed with the Architecture of the lvl, but I couldn't play it worh BEANS. If I had been the only entity in the lvl it would have been fine, but my Bots went nuts, they were suicidal and jumpped around every 2 feet. Then when I died, The stuff the fell from my hands became 3 splines, Red Gree and Blue. I know this from other Games, and Programs as a X, Y, Z coordinate Marker, the Glass in the Window did the same thing when IT needed to spawn; a bunch of THESE RGB XYZ things rained down. So yeah, it would be a cool map, and I guess me and a friend could play, but the bot support stinks and the Stairs need fixing...

Oh! Don't get me wrong the map LOOKS great (again the only REAL problem I have is with the stairs (ramps?)) I don't have this problem with ANY of the other maps, no UBER jumpy Bots and no RGB/XYZ spline thingys...

 

I was just hoping that someone else has had a similar problem.

i thought it was awful. the design had potential, however the gameflow sucked for humans and you couldnt even hit a bot what with the jumping.

 

also, too many dead ends. imho 1 is too many when it comes to dead ends.

 

item placement was also pretty bad.

 

the author made note of making the map larger to include the falcon. im hoping he does this because it could be pretty cool. however there needs to be way better use of donotenter and botclip brushes.

Well, now I don't feel like such a TARD (he he), now that I see that others have had some problems, mostly with the bots. I think the dead ends are there becasue those are CAPS that are going to be leading to other parts of the lvl, when it is finished (and a LOT larger (especially the dead ends that are solid White)).

 

From what I gather this guy wants to build CLOUD city! I have NO problem with that, I love HUGE lvls where it could be anywhere from 2-3 min before you see anyone, and then you snipe them, or they jump out and smack you down with their elite jedi skillz. (I always wanted to play death match in a completly empty subdivision, but I am kinda weird like that) The lvl should include most of the visualy and literally documented areas of CLOUD CITY. From the landing pad, to where they are going to process C3-P0, to the council Chambers where Vader Deflects the shots with his hands.

 

I think I have talked enough.

Yeah, there are definitely some "issues" with this map as far as bot support goes, and I've had the same RGB issue with destructable objects as well. I would really like to see the larger version of this map made into a single-player map culminating in this section in a duel with Vader. That, my friends, would ROCK!

I hope that the author of the map (lord knows I don't remember who that is) will take all this into some CONSTRUCTIVE critcizm (sp?) and make a really AWSOME map.

 

So far (and I repeat) my major issues (other than the RGB/XYZ thingys) are the Stairs being too small (and there are places to fall between the wall) and the CARBON CHAMBER ROOM needs to be larger, much like in the lvl released by RAVEN. Also, falling down that shaft (the BIG ONE) should NOT kill you, it should lead to more tunnels, and if your timing sucks, it should eject you into the Sea Below Cloud City (that is a MUCH longer drop :D ) Luke Survived the fall, why couldn't OTHER more experienced Jedi?:p

Well I tried the map and here is my two cents.

 

1) It's a great looking map. Very realistic to the films and I for one, cannot wait for the full version.

 

2) Bots. Jump. Way. Too. Much. And. Too. High. Not possible to have a good saber fight and they have a nasty habit of killing themselves. Turn off Force and it's a bit better.

 

3) Sounds. There is a mp3 file missing. (Look at the console after you load it) so that explains teh sounds. The wind effect ios cool but there is a section where it sounds like you are walking on water.

 

Overall: 8/10

 

Good for net games though a bit dodgy for botmatches.

On second play of this fine looking level, it's really unplayable with bots, with sabers and force. It's not too bad with projectile weapons but any other was it's really too unplayable to be much fun.

 

Here's hoping the author can fix this bug and when it's completed this could be the best map ever.

Thanks for DL info.

 

For sure man, the level looks awesome and can feel pretty EMPIRE at times which is intense. Although the level needs too be way more open in the fighting areas. The room where Han gets his nits frozen should be huge for some jumps and sabre action. Then we will be one step closer to being in the movies.

 

 

And Jar Jar should be tortured and killed by Anakin.

I imagine that the level author did not have access to whatever utility is used to compile the map for bots. WHen editing Quake 3 levels bots never worked properly until compiled for them. I'm guessing this utility will be available in the full SDK.

So, yes it was compiled at Raven and I had the same problem with the X-Y-Z debris. I really hope the final map contains a deeper Core-Tube, this one was a bit too small (You can see the bodys lieing down there)... Scrap the staircase and make it a air-tunnel and you'll have a quite good map.

 

The Jump-Pad to the lower levels needs work too- it's to small, so that you sometimes get damage and then are bumped up again afterwards...
