Scarlet Widow
i never noticed any reflective floors in any of the missions or multiplayer maps...what happened to them all? i was really looking forward to them from the screenshots... or maybe my graphics card just doesn't support them? hughJ
reflective surfaces isn't something you need special hardware designed for.. i haven't seen any either, so perhaps they removed them due to performance issues or something *shrugs*
D.L.
I agree. It looked cool. I made one of them into a JO banner
starwarsfreak_1
if you havnt got reflective floors then you havnt got a powerful enough graphics card. I have reflective floors with a G-Force 3 Titanium. It has awesome graphics but is costly. Worth it.
Graham_uk
I have reflective floors and Im running a Creative Geforce 2 pro (64mb) perhaps its a video card memory issue?
Scarlet Widow
Ah, alright then... i'm playing JK II on a Vanta so heh, i guess that explains why i can't see them Nice to know that its just the card though and that they didn't remove them from the game, thanks. DocBandito
I don't think it has anything to do with the graphics card, I have an ELSA Gladiac 920 GeForce 3 and I still can't see the reflective floors...
Moleculor
Can someone give me the location of a reflective floor so I can go and look to see if I've got a powerful enough graphics card? Mine has 64MB of memory, so I should be able to do it, but.... *shrug*
nifelan
hi i use a Radeon64DDR and i also can't see any reflections...
Scarlet Widow
Moleculor, the first mission when you first enter the building with Jan, down the elevator and beyond that first door take a look at that floor. i think its suppose to reflect. On my card it just gives off this shiny effect which is kind of lame looking.
nifelan
"shiny effect" It looks more like Smoke
hughJ
we're not talking about the "shiny" semi-reflective look that's created through simple multitexturing.. that's very common for the metalic textures in Q3.. am talking about the full reflective floors, where you see a mirror image of everything.. does anyone know where this is used in the game? it's not a hardware feature.. so any video card should be able to produce the effect.. nifelan
I think that there should have been some @ that huge Ship (what was the name of it again ?) I think in that Room before you meet Jan (again) There ist that Imperial Shuttle inside and some Reborn and Troopers...
DragonD
I believe that it was "Doomgiver". D (gives doom)
Leagle
I have a Geforce 3 Ti500 and the only reflective surface I ever saw was the mirror in yavin_final.
JediGhost[SITH]
Maybe there's an option under the video settings.. I have a GeForce 2 and I don't see any "reflections" except those of the same skin standing infront of me with the same stance and saber color.. Mulgie
I've got a GeForce 2 GTS (only 32MB) and I've never seen any reflective surfaces either. I'm wondering (like hughJ) whether it's more related to CPU power than graphics card capability. I wonder if the game has some sort of intelligence that disables fancy features below a certain clock speed? I'm running with a 1.3GHz Thunderbird Athlon and 512MB of PC133 RAM - any specs out there for people who *can* see the reflections? On another note, am I the only person who's annoyed that the "Lightsaber" only gives off light in certain parts of the game?In the original JK (DF2) you could use your lightsaber to find your way around in the dark as it actually gave off light all the time. In JK2 it only lights up a random bit of wall or floor and the stormtrooper's armour. This looks very pretty, but now you have to resort to using the Infra Red Goggles in the dark which jumps it back into 1st person view, eats up batteries and looks grim as hell! I'd be interested to hear what you lot think? Cheers.
