JK2 has a rather annoying tendency to quit to desktop when I am saving a game. It does this often enough that I am at my wits' end. Really. And I don't know much about computar machenes, so if anyone would know what this means, I implore you to tell me, and to tell me what I might be able to do about it. This is the message I am presented with after the game quits on me:

Missing Huffman code table entry

 

Anyone who understands what's going on, please help me out. If it helps to know what I'm running it on, it's a P3 600, GeForce 256 (recommended drivers), 512 meg SDRAM, Sound Blaster Live.

 

And on a side note, is there supposed to be sky?

Hrmm. Not sure about the save game deal. But I think I can help you out with the sky. In console type r_fastsky 0. Should fix it. If you are using ATI Radeon 7500 I encountered a problem with my sfx messing up when I did this. Installing the second to newest drivers will fix it.

Anyone know what might be up with the save function and the mysterious Huffman code message?

I'm bumping this because I was quoting the wrong code in the message window. I did not scroll down! The correct code is now quoted in the first post and I hope someone can make sense of it, because this is really sending me batty.

Does the problem happen when you quicksave (f12) and when you save normally? (f11) I don't know what the huffman table is, but I'd try quicksaving if you've been saving by going to the menu and vice versa.

Have you tried another name than the jkiixx ones, it might be that you're saving it as the name of one of the autosaves and jk is kicking you out.

It happens on quick saves and regular saves, about 1/3 of the time I try either. I will try naming the saves with a snazzier moniker. Thanks.

Just thought I'd try bumping this again on the off chance that someone now knows what a Huffman table is. I asked a freind who owns a Modernist furniture store, and he had no idea.
