bad loading times, game freezing up

Till "Cairn assembly", I had fast loading times (about 5 seconds); then suddenly the game locked up, and loading lasted about 10 minutes sometime!! Even quitting the game gave the same problem; I have a pentium 4 1,8ghz(512 cache), Ge-Force 3 Ti 200 and 256 ram; most of the details are set on high, resolution 800x600; a friend of mine who is in the computerbusiness, said to me that it could be due to a bad save; he may be right, because, when I started my pc the next day, everything was running smoothly again!
