The_BZA
well, i only ask this question because of a post i saw where a forum member with lesser video power than I is getting 100+ fps and i have to ask...is there an FPS cap or is perhaps my game mis-reporting my FPS? my system. 1.0 gig AMD Athlon ECS K7VZA Mobo 512 PC133 RAM integrated sound (yes it works fine) Window XP Professional. and the kicker...my video card... PNY Verto GeForce 4 Ti4400 Overclocked to 310/610 well then...with all video options cranked to the max i get 50 FPS in small interior rooms and 30 in exterior...very playable and what i would expect from a game with such detail and complexity...my confusion comes when i turn everything down to medium and the resolution down to 1024 x 786 (i think). at that point my FPS seems to be buncing at 60 FPS all the time...even when i stare at a wall and dont move...it hovers at 60 FPS...like it flickers between 58-59-60 and never seems to go up...same in outdoor environments...it bounces around at 58-59-60 and never goes up or down... when i play counterstrike there is a similair problem with reported FPS and my GeForce card where the internal FPS counter in CS reports that i am only getting 60 FPS but in actual fact when i run an external FPC counter like "Fraps" it reports the actual 99.9 FPS that i know it is getting. because of this i am worried that my FPS arent being accuratly displayed within my game of Jedi Outcast. i would really appreciate any help on this and I am sorry for the long post. I just want to know if maybe the 1.0 gig CPU isn't enuff to get more than 60 FPS. any help?
jasho
There is a setting in the config file with the line: seta com_maxfps "x" where "x" is the fps cap. I believe the default value is 82 or something around there. If you DO NOT want it to have a fps cap, then set the value to "0".
The_BZA
is that right? if i set it to 0 would that limit the cap to 0 fps? would setting it to something like 200 have the same affect? a cap of 200 will never be reached...so wouldnt that be as affective? any other input? The_BZA
thanks in advance, i know this should be higher FPS, i will try the cfg file thingy with g_maxfps when i get home from the office, thanks. any other suggestions? a GF 4 Ti should be able to run with a moderate of "extra" feaures enabled like antialiasing and antistropic filtering etc and get more than 60 fps...shouldnt it? help! jasho
Changing the maxfps to a really high number like 200 would sort of be the same. In some games (not sure about JO), the level of detail is automated with this setting and the minfps setting. By setting the maxfps to "0", the game will ignore the maxfps and just run the game rendering the frames as high as it can go not worring about texture detail and what not. In a sense, the value "0" means disable, so you are really disabling the maxfps command.

Deetox187
I think you have v-sync on and your refreshrate setting in the game must be at 60, that would explain why you can't get more than 60 fps. Make an autoexec.cfg and put this command in there seta r_displayRefresh "100" (change 100 to whatever your monitors refreshrate is at the resolution you are playing in) you should now get the fps you want.
