Wierd install problem, help plz!

Ok just got the game and went to install, all going fine until 89% on install when game stops and says plz insert disc 0 that contains the file data3.cab. There is no file called this in the directory. On further inspection i noticed the file that wont copy to my HD is the big file called assets0.pk3. I wondered about this then realised that the file assets0.pk3 opens in winamp. So I did, winamp showed all the files in assets0.pk3 so I thought ill extract. Extract was fine until it came across a file called rok3.roq (i think) that would not copy. That is the problem I have. I can install every other file on cd apart from that file. Befroe u ask yes I do have the original disc and it is not scratched in any way. Anyway I can get over this prob?

Your problem smells very much as though your CD-ROM drive (or whatever drive you use to install the CD) cannot read the entire contents of the JO CD because of it's copy protection. There seem to be only 2 solutions people have had success with:

 

1. In Windows Explorer, copy the contents of the entire CD-ROM to a folder on your hard drive and execute the SETUP.EXE in that folder to install the game. This, of course, assumes, you can even do that copy operation without problems.

 

2. Burn a copy of the game and use that to install. I don't know if that's doable without the help of a utility like CloneCD or not - I've never tried copying the original CD. Then, install from the copy.

 

There is the possibility that other CD-RW and DVD-ROM drives will be able to install the game without trouble but obviously, not many people have extras of these lying around.
