it doesn't.

It doesn't tell you who Vader really is (Anakin Skywalker) until Return of the Jedi.

However, if you were to know that Vader was Anakin Skywalker, and hadn't put together the last name thing with Luke. Than the emperor telling Vader "The Son of Skywalker must not be allowed to become a Jedi" could also tell you that.

Because they are forgetting that they don't find out until Return of the Jedi that Vader is Anakin Skywalker.

Until Yoda tells Luke that Anakin is Vader, the only reference we have to Luke's father (aside from the classic "I am your father") is that "A young jedi knight named Darth Vader. He betrayed and murdered your father" which is told to us in A New Hope

edit: caught my mistake..oops.

Here's my question bout it all tho: I kinda hit upon this in an earlier thread.

After Episode III comes out and you're watching the movies as they're intended to be watched...starting at Episode I and sequentially to Episode VI.....the cover is blown as soon as we see two things: 1) Anakin becoming Vader, and 2) Anakin's children being born.

The only way to really resolve this is for Lucas to do Anakin's transformation to Vader in such a way that we don't know for sure who is under that mask.

I.E when Anakin and Obi-wan have that fateful duel, it is done in a way that we are meant to think Anakin is killed. Then out of nowhere comes this new bad-a$$ Darth Vader.

Now the question so far, which oddly I can't seem to recall. But in Episode I, is Anakin's last name ever revealed? (maybe on the queens ship right after the first maul fight as anakin is being introduced to obi, but I can't remember for sure)
