David Veen
I've played the gamefor a week by now and it all worked excellent. However, yesterday it stopped working and I got the message: Couldn't load openGL subsystem. I really did play the game before so i'm not hallucinating. I have a NvDia Geforce 2 GTS Pro with (i guess) the latest drivers. Anyway, the worst thing is that it worked before so why doesn't it now? I'm going crazy. PLEASE send me an answer. I also checked the manual and other online things (also master Yoda's help) hundreds of times Help me!!!!!!!!!!!!! kirk26
Reinstall your video drivers (or get the latest version from your card's website). I had the same problem.
David Veen
I already tried it or it doesn't work so I need to do something else! I have a another problem! Not one game using the quake 3 engine works (Quake 3 arena, Return To Castle Wolfenstein, Bidforpower(Rodney!))
ricky1981
I had the same problem with mohaa I was using the latest drivers with no success. I switched back to the official nvidia 23.11 drivers and that solved my problems, might be worth a try?

Check for archived drivers under nvidia.com, remember to UNINSTALL the current drivers before installing the new ones. This is rather odd though, its like you changed an opengl setting/registry or something. Did you install/reinstall any other programs after JK2? David Veen
No I have not installed any other programs except return to castle wolfenstein which uses the same engine and isn't working either
MarS_888
It's strange, but I suddenly have the exact same problem. Been playing the game for over a week and just a half an hour ago it would't start. I've tried installing the newest drivers and that didn't work. So I'll try the 23.11 drivers next to see if that works.

WhiteChedda
I don't know, sounds like when people run pirated versions of adobe to me. If the software can determine your not the legal liscencee it will purposefully break. Weird, opengl working one minute and then not another, but its not really opengl, its just not loading the subsystem correctly. which indicated too many possibilities from drive error/corruption, [i assume you've already run a scandisk and defrag] to a driver complication. MarS_888
I found a way to fix my problem. When I deleted the jk2mpconfig.cfg I found that the game would start up normally again though with all settings gone ofcourse. I havn't tried sp yet, but mp works again. Something must have gotten corrupted in that file that caused the graphics setup to fail.
David Veen
Where did you find that file, O Great and Holy MarS_888?
Master_Cobain
Hey guys, I've had the same problem that I can't seem to run multiplayer due to OpenGL error message.... the idea of remocing that file was intreguing and what was even more so is that it was not present on my system but what I have discovered is this.... go to your cd drive (for the sake or demonstration pretend its drive d) D:\GameData\GameData where there are to .exe files for single and multi player - running these seems to work... I am going to try compying the cd to my drive and maybe it'll all work then.
MarS_888
The file can be found in your '../Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast/GameData/base/' folder. @Master_Cobain: The files you mentioned should allready be on your hard disc when you install the game. Check your GameData folder and they should be there. The JediOutcast.exe is in fact just a front end to those files.
David Veen
O great MarS_888. There was no such file in my base folder after installing. I had to take it from my CD using copy and stuff. It's in the map French or German\Gamedata\base. I do not have the file autoexec.cfg (I don't know if I am supposed to have it If you have that file than please mail it to me! dtjveen@hotmail.com There is still a question for you from me on these pages check it out will ya! WhiteChedda
Mars thts odd, i suggested deleting the config files in the past and letting the system rebuild them, and everyone said it did not work........... I suppose its possible they didn't know what I was talking about, but...... I even posted a basic, low quality config in a previous post, but oh well, happy to hear it fixed a few peoples problems. What deleting the file does is force jk2 to extract the original from the pk3 files agian, which leaves you at the default configuation.
