Unshielding the doomgiver.

I'm in a place where there is a botomless pit with a tower in the middle wich has big pipes attached wich you can access it by. (this is after you've rescued jan)

I've accessed the tower in the middle and killed the securety fellow and grabbed his key.

this is where I'm stuck I can't find out what to do next, and have been trying hard.

 

Any hints?

Check the hallways through all the doors on the outside edge of the big room. You may have missed something.
