I am having trouble finding good reference pics, but I've found a few which give some good detail. Aim for about 400 to 500 polys for the head. From what I can see the proportions are a bit off and the top Brim where the Heart Monitor like line runs acrall seems a bit boxy. The top round area is a bit messy too. I can't tell why it looks like that though from this pic. It looks like you've got the basic shape down pretty well though. The proportions on the top part of the helmet are a bit off, as you said, and I'm trying to find some better pictures to use for reference, because I can't quite get a handel on what the proper ones are The round top is something I'm working on now. I'll make it meet up with the flat part with more of a curve.
