If you think you can judge my intelligence from a post griping about a force power, time to get a second opinion about your own.

No, not the post about the force powers, just your flat out refusal to accept the fact that you were wrong. How are you to judge what I say when you're too damned stupid to know what I am replying to, especially when everyone else knows exactly what I was replying to.

 

Are there any facts you can state that prove my opinion wrong of how absorb should work?

I hate to break it to ya kid, but reguardless of what mommy and daddy tell you, your opinion means exactly jack and ****. Especially when the majority is against your opinion. The only opinion that matters is that of the Dev Team.

Monnnster, if you're posting to get an intellectual debate going on, you're certainly not going the best route about it. You have to expect people to disagree with what you say, and you can't just go flaming people or belittling them because their opinion is different from yours.

Monnnster, on your first post here, the subject was "Tone down absorb!!" or something like that. However, in the body of your message, you didn't mention anything about toning down absorb, but talked about other things. Perhaps you set the subject and then forgot about it half way through your post...then people started flaming you for wanting to "tone down absorb", and you forgot about your subject, so you got defensive since you believed you never mentioned it. Yeah maybe that's what happened! Come on guys, we all love to kill each other, let's just get along!

I didnt read all the posts here so forgive me if I reapeat what someone else hads already said. It's early in the morning and I'm too tired to read all these posts when most of them say the same things I've read in several other posts.

 

There have been many topics complaining about one force power or another. They usually are about grip or drain and I think this is the first one about absorb. The fact is that every, and I mean EVERY force power and style of play can be countered by anyone.

 

The suggestion someone made ealier about grabbing a gun to fight back the guy who uses guns + absorb makes a good point. Just cause the way you like to take care of gunners wont work, does not mean there isnt another effective way to deeal with the situation.

 

Here's a few of my opinions about the most controvercial things I've read about on this forum.

 

1)Drain. This is probably the one that is most complained about. The fact is that drain is the only way for dark jedi to heal with force which means they have to be near other people to use it. They cant run off to a corner to heal like light jedi can. Also, drin is the only effective power dark jedi have against most other powers. IF someone is using protect, drain is the only way to even the playing field. Same goes for when you are backed into a corner and being lightninged to death. Drain is the only defensive power that dark jedi have. And if you get frustrated with drain wh0res, they can be countered. The best way is to attack them with whatever weapons you have while they are draining. This will stop them really quick. Also, Absorb works wonders for light jedi, and being a better drian user works well for dark jedi. Drain is not a cheap move.

 

2)Grip. The other hated dark jedi power. grip can be couneterd in many of the same ways drain can be. force push works wonders here. I've knocked grippers off the same lege they were trying to throw me off, just by using push. Many complain about being drained then gripped over a ledge. First off, you should use some of the tecniques I mentiond about countering drain. If for some reason you get caught by supprise, having a good weapon available means you can blow them away before they can move you over that ledge. Absorb works well here too if you still have force power left. Grip is not a cheap move.

 

3)Absorb. Probably the best power light jedi have. It can still be countered. First off, it doesnt last very long and drains light jedi of their foce meter. IF you can dodge them for a short time, they are in a very vulnerable position when it finally turns off. At that point you can push, pull, grip, or use any other force power and they will have no defence against it. Weapons still work against those with absorb on so saber/shoot the crap out of them and you will have no problems. Absorb is not a cheap move.

 

4)Mind Trick. I have only read a few complaints about this and they hav mostly been by people who forgot there was such a thing as force seeing. Enought said.

 

5) Strong saber style. A ton of people hat strong style due to the DFA move as well as how powerful even a glancing blow is. I agree that there needs to be a few changes to the animations so swings that only come close dont kill you. Other than that I think Stron style is one of the easiest to beat. Just a few minutes ago I played in a game where I won several saber duels against strong style users, simply by using well timed saber throws. In most of those fights, I took no damage at all. Just take advantage of the slow speed and recovery time of strong swings and you will kick their butts every time. Strong style is not cheap.

 

I could go on about other things like certain weapons, force heal, and a few more tecniques, but this post is too long already. The point is that everything in the game can be beat no matter how much trouble it may give you. I think too ofter, people find a way of doing things that works well, then get frustrated when someone else knows how to counter them. Thats usually when the wrod "cheap" comes out because they are upset their wonderful way of playing isnt perfect. Just try different things and you will soon find that there are plenty of ways to defend agains every move in the game. They may not always work but there is always a way. And remember, you can use the same moves everyone else does so feel free to use someone elses tecnique against them.

 

Finally I would like to share the creed I learned at Marine Corps bootcamp. "Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome". This applies to everything from figting a real war to playing this silly game.

I think a majority of the complaing comes from simple frustration at being beaten, or from having one's illusion popped. Some people want to play the game in a certain way and for a certain reason, and frankly I can understand that desire, it's a game, you're supposed to get what you want. However I think most people's concerns would be greatly reduced if they were a little more picky about where they played. I, for example, don't like a majority of the Force nonsense, the healing and pushing and gripping and whatnot, I also don't like the types of guns this game uses (I guess I'm just to used to the various Q3 weapons, I know there are analogs but I just find them lacking)--so I play on Saber only NF servers, and I typically have a lot of fun.

 

I think if people were a touch more discriminating on their server types they would enjoy themselves more often.

 

On an unrelated note it's beginning to look like I stalk AcG...hrmmm, maybe I need to see a therapist...
