Okay folks.

 

It's official. As a result of a discussion with Roger of the Rebel Strike team, we have decided that our little team (2 persons) will merge with Rebel Strike to create the mod that we want to play, and hopefully you too ;).

 

As Roger has stated on the site, you shouldn't expect any news posted there until we have something to show you. Which will take probably a week or two. We're working hard to get this through so we would appreciate if you would give us your support and no more discussions about Jedi implementations.

 

Because there will be no jedi in Rebel Strike.

If you're disappointed about this decision, don't be. I'm sure there will be alot of mods out for Jedi Outcast which will put the Jedi and it's lightsaber in the spotlight.

I am glad that Jedi will not be included in Rebel Strike. Jedi were not a common sight in the original trilogy. They were a rare breed at the time. I would rather play as Rebel or Imperial forces and recreate the film battles.

Yeah, now you can expect a full paced action game which will picture battles between The Empire and The Rebel Alliance where you will see all kinds of models from the stormtroopers, snowtroopers, sandtroopers and swamptroopers which will all be locked to different locations. It's not very fun to play a swampmap and see a Snowtrooper swimming around in a pond ;). On the side of the Rebels side we will picture a little more varied models (since The Alliance reqruit all kinds of races in all kinds of professions). So, different races. As we all know The Empire is a very predjudice one where aliens doesn't match. But so it wouldn't look funny, we will include more humans than aliens, since the mayority of the Rebel Alliance are humans.

i take it this will form some sort of class structure? different attributes for each? If so, take a light approach, with only a little variation, and slightly favour humans. Too many aliens would be... odd. Maybe even make them location specific as with the imperials. In the films, battles were usually just humans or humans w/1 other type of alien (eg. ewoks). Mixed and matched aliens is a bit pirate/canteena and wouldn't really suit the kind of battles you're aiming at i think.

 

and will you make imperial classes also? Would be cool to see out of a different shaped view for each helmet type, but that's pretty trivial.

Would be v.cool having a team of identical stormtroopers, but including things like officers/pilots/variety of weapons may also be desirable. what's you're verdict?

We don't know really how much the class system will rule gameplay or if it will at all... We don't know whether or not aliens will be added yet.. As you stated, it would look a little weird if there were a mayority of aliens in the mod... We'll see what we'll do about it.. If we will make classes, then classes will be on both sides yes..
