The Souljourner
They actually have this specific error on the LucasArts JKII troubleshooting page. Of course, they just tell you the usual crap about installing the latest drivers etc. Well, I have the latest drivers and it's acting exactly the same. I'll paste a copy of the console output at the end of this. Here's the specs on my computer: Creative Annihilator GeForce2 GTS, latest NVidia drivers (28.32) 1GHz Athlon on IWill KK266, default XP drivers 384MB RAM Win XP Pro, latest updates The "Analyze your computer" function shows everything is ok (for all that's worth). Any help would be greatly appreciated. -The Souljourner Copy of console output: JK2: v1.02a win-x86 Mar 4 2002 Initialising zone memory ..... ----- FS_Startup ----- Current search path: C:\Program Files\JKII\GameData\base\assets1.pk3 (8011 files) C:\Program Files\JKII\GameData\base\assets0.pk3 (6674 files) C:\Program Files\JKII\GameData/base ---------------------- 14685 files in pk3 files execing default.cfg couldn't exec jk2config.cfg couldn't exec autoexec.cfg ...detecting CPU, found AMD w/ 3DNow! ------- Input Initialization ------- Skipping check for DirectInput Joystick is not active. ------------------------------------ ------- Force Feedback Initialization ------- ...inhibited, not initializing ----- Client Initialization ----- ----- Initializing Renderer ---- ------------------------------- ----- Client Initialization Complete ----- --- Common Initialization Complete --- Working directory: C:\Program Files\JKII\GameData ----- R_Init ----- Initializing OpenGL subsystem ...initializing QGL ...calling LoadLibrary( 'C:\WINXP\System32\opengl32.dll' ): succeeded ...setting mode 3: 640 480 FS ...using desktop display depth of 32 ...calling CDS: ok ...registered window class ...created window@0,0 (640x480) Initializing OpenGL driver ...getting DC: succeeded ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 8 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 32, 24, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT ...restoring display settings ...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3) ...setting mode 3: 640 480 FS ...using colorsbits of 16 ...calling CDS: ok ...created window@0,0 (640x480) Initializing OpenGL driver ...getting DC: succeeded ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 16, 16, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...GLW_ChoosePFD( 16, 16, 0 ) ...35 PFDs found ...GLW_ChoosePFD failed ...failed to find an appropriate PIXELFORMAT ...restoring display settings ...WARNING: could not set the given mode (3) ...shutting down QGL ...unloading OpenGL DLL ----- CL_Shutdown ----- RE_Shutdown( 1 ) ----------------------- GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem
|HfH|Tsavong La
Generally, this error means your video card, or the drivers you have installed are not openGL compatible. However with a GF2mx you should be fine. One thing I would suggest right off the bat is to remove the drivers you are using now...boot windows into safe mode..by holding 'ctrl' when booting, and re-install the drivers. Also check the cards software..sometimes there is a button for enabling/disabling opengl extensions. Good luck to you..I will hopefully soon have a TroubleShooting Guide for JKO2, time permitting. The Souljourner
Well, I uninstalled the drivers, rebooted, re-installed the drivers (why this should help, I don't know, but rebooting and reinstalling is magical in Windows, except in this case) and it does the exact same thing. Like you said, with a GeForce2 GTS (not mx btw) and the new drivers, there's no reason I should be having a problem. There's no software for the card, I'm just using the drivers off nvidia's website. I tried installing the software that came with the card, but it only works if you use their drivers, and their drivers suck ***. I had to remove them just so I could boot up and actually see anything. What a wonderful waste of an hour that was. Anyway, any other help is appreciated. If anyone has had this problem and successfully fixed it, I'd like to know. For reference, I can play quake III and various mods without a problem. Don't know why I'd have a problem with JKII. -The Souljourner
