godless_hordes
Ok, so I've been playing the Ladder sp level and I want to change the smack.mp3 and Kombat.mp3 music to use "Spybreak" and the Blade 2 main theme. I've unzipped a copy of the ladder.pk3 so I can see the directory structure, no problem. I've made the mp3's and renamed them, no problem. Now, how the #(*&! do I recreate the .pk3 file? I'm figuring I should just zip everything up, either that or use the "add" and "delete" commands in winzip to replace the mp3 files, and I can do it but with one big problem: I can't put the files in the correct folders in the zip/pk3. I see no options for adding whole folders to zip archives or for placing a new file into a specific folder within the archive. Winzip's help file isn't helping. (I'm using Winzip 7. I'll try version 8 this evening.) In the meantime, any suggestions? I'm confident that this must be among the top 10 lame-ass newbie questions of all time.... Lovett
hello m8 this is what you do copy the existing Ladder pk3 dont extract anything, open up the ladder pk3 look for the music you want to change now drag smack out and put it in a folder or on the desktop, now get the mp3 you want to put in there and rename it smack and then place in the existing ladder.pk3 and done Regards Tony.L
godless_hordes
Thanks Tony. The thing is, I'm pretty sure that's what I did...but when I add the new file, it defaults to the "root" of the pk3 archive and not to the \music\ folder. That's what it looks like, anyway. godless_hordes
Hmm! I might have just figured it out. To add subfolders to an archive... While in Winzip's "add" menu, tick "include subfolders" and use "add with wildcards." Do not tick "include full pathname." Make sure your folder is clean because Winzip will want to add everything in the main folder you've selected.
SEPtIc cHiLD
I've found winzip to be a bit crap at dealing with pk3's, or maybe it's just me, but I went and got Cutezip instead and I find it loads better.
