ps2maddenman
Ok, I've figured out how to put a model (ATST) in a map I am creating, however, when I run the map the I can walk right through the model, how do I make it solid? (and my other question is how do I make walls where I can walk through-which I am sure is in the same topic.)
mapmaker
To make models solid, you have to put the 'clip' texture around the areas you want to be solid. You can find the 'clip' by clicking on 'textures' on the menu at the top of the editor, then clicking 'systems' on the drop down menu.
ps2maddenman
So, there is basically no way to make it where you can walk between the legs of an ATST and the rest of the body be solid>? or do I have to make the clip brush very complex? Hubris
You then frame each leg in clip, and then the body in another clip. The clips don't have to be immensely complex just small face count brushes, in fact, if you're gonna include bots the simpler the better.
Tantalus
Though it's only fair to warn you that just using boxes textured as physics_clip around a shape more complex than a box will yield the invisible wall effect (i.e. laser blasts hit something seemingly invisible). It's really not all that hard to match the atst model, given its relative incomplexity. You could cheat in a few areas, such as the guns - those you can use a box on, since there's no way anybody could get between them at all. I did the raven's claw in about a half hour (ok, so it's not perfect per se, but it's real close - when I moved the actual model out of the way there was a nearly perfect outline of it there, so I was pleased).
