How to replace Kyle in SP?

I know there are mods for replacing Kyle in single player with a few characters but I just want to know how to do it myself. I was thinking of replacing him with a Darth Maul skin I downloaded for MP. Is this possible or does it have to be an original SP skin or model? If someone knows how a step by step tutorial would be great!

Ok, here goes:

First of all, enter your %jediknight2% folder

(default:"C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData\base")

then go into gamedata\base and open the file assets0.pk3

in Winzip or some program compatible with this extension.

To do as you wish and extract Darth Maul into Sp, you can open

that .pk3 file and extract all files into the base folder,

note: with folder names.

After that, make sure it has the

target models\players\kyle. that way it will temporarily

replace the kyle model (only as long as it exists).

After doing any changes you wish, put it all in a folder

named:"darthmaul" or "mods" or whatever you like.

Create a new .zip file and name it whatever you like,

but don't include spaces. Use _ instead of a space

eks:wrong darth maul.zip

right darth_maul.zip

Next, move all the files you've altered into the

appropriate directory and have the .zip file in the bottom(before the base).

Open the zip file and choose "add". Don't insert any names in slot, but

have include subfolders button checked and choose Add with wildcards.

That would complete that section. There are precautions, but you'll

discover those for yourself. Rename the zip extension to pk3, and

move into the base folder.

Now your Kyle will be Darth Maul.

If the game crashes, then you've zipped the file the wrong way!

For an indepth tutorial, download JK2EditingTools.zip from these pages.

May the Force be with you!
