Evil Models

Going by Bubba's tutorials, I'm trying to add some models and entities to the game. I've managed to add weapons and whatnot, but when I go to load these models, the actual model doesn't come up in the map editor anywhere. Looking back at the tutorial images, the box around the model/entity is transparent and you can see the model in it. Is this different in the version we're using for Jedi Knight 2, or am I doing something wrong? I've got it set for boxed and skinned as far as the entities go, but I'm still not getting any shapes other than the square in the map editor. Help! *begs*

When you insert models with the "misc_model" entity it will just be a red box. Then when you compile and look at your map it'll be in there. However, it will not be solid. So, you must put a brush around your model and assign that brush with the CLIP texture under systems. Try that and let us know...

Well, the one misc moded loaded, but I'm still not getting images with the entities like weaponry and munitions. Am I going to have to compile and restart this thing every time to get the models to show up in skinned/wireframe mode? I've changed the path names each time I add a model. Grr. This is so frustrating!

To tell the truth, I had a bitch of a time at first too. I have found that just typing the key and value in manually works better than the browse feature, and I don't have to exit and reload the editor...

... just in case... you did unpack all the models out of the assets0.pk3 right?....

radiant ****s this up all the time. when you insert a misc model it defaults to using the full path of your hard drive to the model. select the entity, hit n to bring up the entity window and look at the model path in the entity properties, it should say something like

c:/program files/lucasarts/star wars jk II jedi outcast/GameData/base/models/......

or wherever you installed to. take out everything up to models. leave that there. then when you hit enter and show the entity as skinned it will show up. i had problems with this getting my xwings to show up for my yavin map i'm working on. eventually after finding another tutorial on the misc_model entity i was able to pull it off. the clip brush is important as well if you don't want the player to just run right through it. for my xwings it seemed kind of gay to just create one big clip brush around the whole thing, so i created smaller brushes covering different parts, allowing the player to go in between the wings and the rest of the ship. anyways, hope this has helped. btw, who would like to see a tatooine map with the millenium falcon in it? :D
