Earl Danish
Could any more experienced mapper (im only on my second map attempt) - tell me why my floor tiles are making a splashing noise when i compile my map? it's most annoying.
[LoRD]RaoulHooD
I was having the same problem, so what I did was extract the file, and save it under a new folder and a new name... then when you pk3 it all up it works just fine. There's probably a better way to do this, but what the hell, it works...
Avethian
Well I'm having the same problem and saving it to a new file doesn't do anything. None of the FAQ's have helped so far so I'm still stuck. Any answers from people who know the nature of the problem- there has got to be a place where you enter the sounds that a texture makes when you walk on it right? twoshadows
I was haing the same issue - so I made clip brushes above the textures that made the splash crap, and I raised them 1 unit higher than the floor - solved problem.
DaviJade
Well that's not solving the problem. That's working around...err over the problem.
[LoRD]RaoulHooD
Make sure, if you copy and rename them that you incllude them in the pk3 file or you will get the splashing sounds still. If you feel really ambitious you could make a shader file for your map using those textures, Shader2ED comes with the tools... though I haven't got the first clue how to use it... UniKorn
It is defined in the shader which sound a texture should make. Take a look at the texture you are using, shift+click on it, and you will see it's shader definition. The sound is defined inthere. Don't change it though, create a new shader with the same stuff in it, and remove the squashing sound. Name it (example:newtextures.shader). Make sure it is in the correct folder (shader folder). Now edit the shaderlist.txt file and add newtextures at the bottom. Now relaunch jk2radiant and choose newtextures in the texture menu. Apply the texture and the squashing sound is gone. Earl Danish
Thanks everyone for your ideas. UniKorn - I'll try that out - sounds like the best solution to me. :] That has really been discouraging me from continuing with building my map. Thank you all again!
