Ae0N
I fall into the 17-25 catagory, but I don't think I know everything or that I'm cool... Although I agree that most are probably in the 8-15.
Fettish
I would say the majority falls into the 17-25 category. Only a few people act like real brats.

So either us 'young'ns' are vain and self-righteous without realizing it or it is that the majority of older forum posters have put us(i am 16) into a archetype that seems to categorize all teenagers after the few that have no real grip on the world and choose to try out their ill-formed ideals on message board systems. I am personally feeling that maybe you [elders] should look towards younger people in a different light. Sure some of the teenage group are exactly what you are characterizing but from my own experiences of the people I have met in my age group they are mostly good natured. Of course I can not speak for other people but I would like to be given another chance before I am characterized as the "My Dad can beat up your Dad and I know everything so he will win" kind of person. Mclarenlover69
I am 17... but I do believe that the categorizing of the younger folks is biased and morally wrong. i can tell from experience that between the ages of 13-15 people become much more mature in their ways and thinking, however I do admit that not everyone does this, but it does happen to the majority. So I believe, that inlight of many of my friends who are still 16 yet in the same grade as I am( and this is not because I flunked) and can easily stay with me in a deep intellectual conversation, the groups should be reassigned to something more like, 8-13,15-18, 18-24, and then 24+. However we will realise that these are just slight generalizations and that there are always exceptions(such as some of my 24 yr-old friends acting like 15 yr olds). Vestril
17-25.....Dude, I Am So Cool and I Know Everything!! You know, a 30 year old posting that is actually kind of ironic, now that I think of it... Sith, I'm 29 and I have to agree with you. Odd though that the young ones didn't! Perhaps its because we resent being categorized by smart assed middle aged nerds who post on forums about how superior they are. I really hope that when I get to be your age I have some more adult hobbies than looking through forums and whining. I'm happy to do that now, youth is meant to be wasted but hell, get a life fellows, computer games are designed for younger age groups, its cool that you manage to enjoy it, in fact I imagine its better when you're older since 'Depends' have to save a lot of bathroom trips, but really, if you're so much older and wiser I would think you would have realized that this is an epic waste of time. btw 26-34+ you're so smart and so far above us pathetic children but you don't seem to realize that 26+ would have said the same thing.... Denise
Vestril, are you aware of the fact that by protesting the stereotype in such a rude, sarcastic, abusive manner you're actually living up to (or down to, rather) said stereotype? Food for thought. Further synaptic sustenance: This very network is owned and operated by those old people who you've just gone to great lengths to insult en masse. Without some of these people there would be no forum here for you to be able to vent such cruelty. Now, to the whole thread here, relax. The titles on the age groups are pretty obviously intended as humorous. 17-25 is the age where people tend to feel that they know everything, and Sithinator is just poking fun at that stereotype. If he's hit some of you in a sore spot (as it seems he has), I doubt it was his intent. Nobody is checking profiles and deciding that "Hmm, I'm not going to take this one seriously, he's only 15". If you've been around here for any length of time you know that it's what you say and how you act that determine how the vast majority of people treat you. Not your chronological age. This applies to 70-year-olds who can't be mature just as much as it does to 14-year-olds who can. Short version: Relax, chill, learn to take a joke even if it's at your expense, and don't respond to a stereotypical insult with another stereotypical (and just as incorrect) insult. While I do not agree with the means in which Vestril uses to convey somewhat similar ideals on stereotypes that I have, I must point out that without the 'young' people to browse the forums and look at ads, there would be no Forum for 'Old' people to make and moderate. So really when you think about it....as long as there are any kind of conversation on a message board like this there will be ads to look at and then some kind of lengths will be taken to capitalize on that fact. So even if we made fun of those 'old' people and they stopped moderating the forums, the real people that keep the forums going is the mass of people that take part in discussions. Food for thought if nothing else.
Denise
Absolutely correct. It's one community, not two factions. Don't try to split it into two, "young" and "old". It doesn't work. That's what I was saying up there to begin with. Now, that very separation is what you and Vestril are doing out of an unnecessary defensive reaction, but I don't really see that anyone "attacked" you to begin with. So relax and quit sniping at each other.

This applies to 70-year-olds who can't be mature just as much as it does to 14-year-olds who can. I did not insult 'old people' en masse' I insulted smart a$$'s en masse. Yes, I used a cruel and rude way of doing this, why? Because I am tired of being categorized. When attack me with rude words, I feel that it is appropriate for me to respond in kind. I did NOT start a post coming out and attacking people over the age of 26, I responded to a post attacking people UNDER the age of 26, and for the record I looked at Sith's profile and it said that he was 30, if that was a joke I apologize. I really hope that when I get to be your age I have some more adult hobbies than looking through forums and whining. Keyword here is whining. I do NOT have a problem with adults. I DO have a problem with adults who group people by age, and tell them that they are defective for one reason or another because they are in that age group. Had Sith insulted his own age group, I would have laughed at his funny joke and moved on, but he proceded to suggest that people over the age of 26 were somehow too good for the rest of us. That made me mad, that changed it from humorous oberservation to attack. Absolutely correct. It's one community, not two factions. Don't try to split it into two, "young" and "old". It doesn't work. So relax and quit sniping at each other. This post was designed to divide young from old, that is my problem with it. I did not attempt to attack older people, I attempted to attack Sith and his ilk, who feel the need to display their superiority over me and mine. Yes I insulted him for his age but I really find it unlikely that a 30 year old requires adult diapers, so I didn't think that that would be a sore spot or cruel. If you are of an age where that is required I apologize to you (and I mean no sarcasm here) I do not think that it is something derogatory about a person who has problems contolling their bodily functions, I was merely trying to make Sith feel old. Was I mean? Was I rude? Was I sarcastic? A qualified yes to all, but I suspect if you looked over my various posts you would find that when people are polite to me, I am polite in return, and I think that if you were under 26 you would understand a little better how utterly rude and derogatory this poll is. If you are under 26 well then duh me, I'm just a big 'ol idiot .

Yes, you are... which is exactly why I'm reasoning with you and not simply blowing this thread to kingdom come. Trust me, I know. What I was trying to say to you above is that being "mean, rude, and sarcastic" only weakens your argument --and it's a good argument! Nobody should have to be categorized, I completely agree. But when you make such a jerk of yourself in trying to get your point across, people aren't going to listen to you. Less temper, more logic... you'll probably find that it works better for you, personally, and it'll certainly make my job a lot easier. To anyone wondering, I'm 28. Episode 2 comes out on my birthday. But I do vaguely remember having been younger than 26; senility hasn't taken that much memory from me quite yet. Would someone fetch my cane? Less temper, more logic... you'll probably find that it works better for you, personally, and it'll certainly make my job a lot easier. It isn't so much a matter of temper as it is a matter of my own, admitedly base sense of justice, testosterone plays a part, I'm sure . Also while it may make my argument harder to swallow to my thinking it does nothing to undermine the logic of it. I was arguing against being classified as thinking I am superior and being self centered, and, to a somewhat lesser extent, against people younger than me all being childish. I do not belive I said anything to indicate that I believe that I am 'above' anyone other than people who make poor generalizations, and in that case only on that issue (hope that wasn't too convoluted, I'm a little dyslexic so I can be confusing). So...while realistically it undermines my argument, I'm an idealist and I would rather argue what I feel to be right rather than play to the crowd...if that makes any sense. On the other hand I have a weakness when it comes to lovely women (and you're all lovely ) giving well thought out advice so I will try to be a little less vehement in the future, this just happens to be a sore spot of mine...actually more a central point in my life right now...but thats not something I need to get into... To anyone wondering, I'm 28. Episode 2 comes out on my birthday. But I do vaguely remember having been younger than 26; senility hasn't taken that much memory from me quite yet. Would someone fetch my cane? First off, how cool is that?? Is that George's Birthday present for you?... Secondly I was right, you ARE over 26!! *bows* Thank you ladies and gentlemen, I'm here all night, but don't bring the kids to the 11 O'Clock show Finally I would like to apologize to anyone who had hurt feelings over my earlier post that I did not intend on hurting. To those I did intend to hurt...think of it as a kick in the rear and perhaps reasses your views, one of the most mature people I know is

I simply expressed my concern to the author of the poll that categorized(wrongly) an entire age group. I know no one was attacking me directly but I feel that I was obligated to correct his stereotyping of my age group. It was simply that. I don't think the poll correctly categorizes the majority of the people in my age group and I believe that it is worth mentioning because if a fuss isn't made then I feel that maybe someone will continue placing younger people in that kind of category. I just do not want to be put in the same light as people that are in fact like the poll describes, because without a doubt I can say I am not like those age groups in the poll. Kamikaze_Elite
I have to say that I think the people who are active in the forums are between 17-25. However, I think that most of the people who play JO are in the younger category. In my experience, only the "elder" gamers actually take the time to get on the forums and/or edit the game.
