Icon Only (Please Help)

No matter what I try and how closely I follow the skinning tutorial, I can only get my icon to show up. When I start my own server, it changes me over to the Kyle skin and I can't see my icon anymore in the player select screen. This happens not only with my skin, but with downloaded skins. Please help. I've been sitting at my computer doing this for a long time! If you need screenshots of what my skin's folder looks like, just ask and I'll supply them.

ughhh...are u sure you have the .pk3 files u downloaded in your 'gamedata/base' folder? ughh....u can send me your screenshot if ya wont and i'll try and see whats wrong. u could send me your skin and i'll see if i can get it too work.

You need to make sure that "Pure Server" is turned OFF.

 

Then it should work. You can also type in the console "/sv_pure 0" and that will also turn off 'pure server'.

 

If it doesn't work, post back.

ughh...i can use custom skins when pure server is "ON", what diff would it make. It only stops players that dont have the same data from joining.

Hehe, now I feel stupid...

 

Thanks a lot Pratt, I realized that my pk3 files were in my GameData folder, not my base folder. I moved them and it worked! Thanks again Pratt! Now I feel confident in my skinning!

Darkhold X, you can get a hold of the skinning tutorial if you download the Raven JKII tools (it's included).
