Guest Darth Massacator Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I can't get ffa_carbonfreeze to load up. I installed the map in my gamedata/base subfolder like it says in the readme file, but I can't find the map in my selection menu. I was told the map was supposed to overwrite one of the Bespin levels but it didn't do that either. Do I load the map via console? If so, what's the command? I'm jonesing to play this map, any help would be appreciated.
twit21 Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I don't know the file name for that map, but I can help you find out. Rename the .pk3 file to .zip and open it with Winzip or somesuch other zippy proggy. Look for a .bsp file and write down the name - that's the name of your map, maybe ffa_carbonfreeze.bsp or whatever. Now, close your zip proggy, and rename that .zip file back to .pk3 and start JO. Start a server, and let whatever level it is load. Now, open the console with shift+~ and change to that map name you wrote down by using the map command with the following syntax: map [mapname] Note that you never add the .bsp to the map name when using this command - the Quake 3 game engine does it for you. If you want the double saber, you can turn on cheats in your server by using 'devmap' instead of 'map' then type '/thedestroyer' in the console... But, be aware that your server will tell every goon that logs in that cheats are enabled, and all they have to do to be a real cheesehead is type 'god' in the console....
Guest Darth Massacator Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Yeah, the map unzips to "ffa_carbonfreeze.pk3. But I tried re-naming the extension to .bsp earlier (I'm a Quake-aholic too) and it still didn't work. BUT, I will check on the console tip to load a map to make sure I typed it in correctly.
twit21 Posted April 30, 2002 Posted April 30, 2002 Ok, to help ya out, I downloaded the map and checked it out. To change to it, start a server using any map, then in the console, type 'map ffa_carbonfreeze' without the quotes. -]Bob
