pantha-too-kay Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Anakin Skywalker seems such a stout-hearted, fit-as-a-fiddle kind of guy - When exactly does he develop Asthma?
Ae0N Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Maybe around the time he get's his hand chopped off?
pantha-too-kay Posted April 29, 2002 Author Posted April 29, 2002 Hmmm, Maybe he had his hand cut off to help him stop smoking?
Prince Legolas Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 Vader is more machine now then human. Perhaps his diaphram was damaged too much that he needs now an artificial method of making his lungs work. This would mean a machine of some sort which would be the reason you head the "asthma breaths" even while he is talking?
pantha-too-kay Posted April 29, 2002 Author Posted April 29, 2002 Really? Only joking Prince. Why would he be wearing a diaphram?
Prince Legolas Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I'm asuming youre joking about thinking the human diaphragm is a contraceptive and not the body part which is responsible for causing air to enter and leave the lungs right? Of course I am sure a few people don't know what a diaphragm really is (the one in the body I mean) so here is an explanation of what a diaphragm is. A diaphragm is a dome-shaped muscle attacked to the bottom of the ribs seperating the lungs from the abdomen. When you the diaphram moves downwards, the space in the chest increases. At the same time the small muscles that are attacked to the ribs cause those ribs to move outward making the chest expand. This causes a small vacum to occur in the lungs which results in air rushing into the lungs. This results in you inhaling. When the diaphragm relaxes (and thus moves upwards), the chest reduces size and the air is forced out. This is exhaling. So if your diaphragm is ****ed, then you wont be able to breathe without some sort of medical device doing the diaphragms job.
pantha-too-kay Posted April 29, 2002 Author Posted April 29, 2002 You assume correctly. I have asthma myself so I am MORE than aware what the diaphragm does. The question was meant to be ironic - I don't think many, if any, would think that Darth Vader was asthmatic but there we are...
hyrit Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I don't know this for fact of course, but I'm told Anakin at some point is thrown into lava. Won't say by who though, but you can probably guess to a certain extent. He's apparently on an iron lung from it, thus the sound. It's also why he requires so much life support. Like I said, I don't know this for sure, so if someone knows for sure, speak up. Just that I used to sit with 5 SW lunatics during lunch in high school. Subjects ranged from "could Maul's lightsaber, if dropped, burrow its way to the center of a planet?" to "could a B-Wing fit in the original Death Star's trench with the s-foils out?" They had NO life, but made for interesting conversation at least.
Vestril Posted April 29, 2002 Posted April 29, 2002 I think he posted his idea that Jedi love should be allowed on the Jedi Temple forum and then got flamed to a crisp...
