Any help world be greatful, BTW this will be on a Linux Server Regards [NBK-IGC]Mad Mac Clan Leader NBK-IGC Site Rent A Server - Coming Soon
Chronic
Well... I dont think the load is much different from a linux box to a windows-based box, because i have little/no expirience with linux.. Although i am guessing that linux when idling uses less resources. One question.. is this a dedicated box, for JK2 only, or other stuff as well? eg. icq, msn, word yadda yadda yadda.. IMO this will affect the clients the most, from what ive seen and expirenced anyways. im running an 800 duron with 384mb of SDRAM and i can use ICQ and surf the net as i usually would with my server, even when it's full. Im running cable (optus@home, in Aus), but it has a 15 k/s upload cap.. so 6-8 players is the max i can have without it lagging down. (after 7 pings start to wander > 90). One note, if it is a dedicated machine, put the priority up to high, especially if it is on a slower machine. Now, bandwidth... from what i've seen, at sv_maxrate 4500, each client uses ~2 k/s upload bandwidth, so times that by say 16, and you have 32 k/s.
