EDIT: hm but my blade is a modeled one... a mesh... not a sprite like the original lightsaber-blade... this might be a problem... or not?

 

I dont know, thats what I was wondering about. Send me the model and Ill see what I can do, but no promises that it will work, especially with the curved blade. However if I look at the shaders there might be a way to change the area of the blur so that it will start in the middle of the model.

it will be done as soon as someone imports the tags from the saber_w.md3 file and send em to me (cuz i cant with max4.2, i can only export md3s .. not import)

 

and send em to felrog@gmx.de

 

or if someone posts a link on where to get a script for importing md3 files (FOR MAX4.2!!!!)

you have to know that there arent any 4.2 plugins

there are only ver4 ones....

but its compatible.. so i use the v4 plugin.... but it has no import function...

however

found a max4 import script.. now i have to learn how to use it

(plugins and scripts are something different...)

expect it to be released sooon :)

Just wondering back, if the lightsaber were to go straight up (in its normal position) would the tip of the katana blade curve back behind the tip of the lightsaber, or would it curve forwards, meeting the lightsaber at the lightsabers tip?

 

If the latter Im not sure how the blur would work, but the former could be done easily.

not possible to prevent that without coding... but i think even WITH coding it would be very hard to prevent it....

however most animations (not all of them :( ) hit with the sharp side...

but i'll surely create new animations... (as soon as possible)

i'm planning to do a kungfu/akimbo/swords mod

wont give you more details :p

omg thats SO WEIRD

i deleted the tag_flash and created a new one

.... IT WORKS!

i can rotate it....(????)

ok so katana needs some final tweaking.. gonna add the sounds... and send the pk3 to toolboi who will (hopefully) add a nice blur....

model will be released without blur, as soon as i added the sounds....

but.. have to tidy me room first

blade's working now....

hm i'll upload the pk3 to my HomePage now...

ok pk3 file includes:

 

- a new model: the Katana!

- lightsaberblade disabled(invisible)

- modified sounds (didnt have the time to dl and add the new

ones)

 

things to do:

- adding/tweaking some textures

- disabling the lightning thats caused by the invisible blade

- adding a motion blur

- adding more sounds

- adding different sword skins...

- creating a new model: katana in sheathe....

....

..

 

you gotta wait 10 mins until its upped

er i know that you hear the lightsaber sounds when you swing.. thats because i didnt have the time to add new swingin sounds

 

 

EDIT: i only modified/removed/moved the sounds that are already there
