hi guys,

ive been fiddling with trees in my map, but you can just walk through them, they arnt solid. I tried selecting them and shift+L to make solid, it does nothing. I also tried to make them structures, it did nothing either, any help here would be appreciated.

Build a brush around the model and texture it with the system/clip texture this will make the brush invisible in the game but it will still block player moment

hope this helps

Yeah, create a brush around the model or area and give it the 'system' texture CLIP. This texture is not visible but will block.

Also, the tighter the brush around your element, in 3D, the better it will create the illusion that the area is blocked (for whatever reason).

okay that works, but still not the intended effect im looking for.

is there anyway to make the object solid as it looks?

what i mean is i dont want invisible boxes surrounding the objects, i want the objects themselfs to be solid, so say, you could jump up into trees.

i want the clip basically to be surrounding the object perfectly or near perfectly, with no excess.

thanks for the help :D

theres no easy way round it just build clip brushes that follow the model as closely as possible, your probably thinking that if you have to build the clip brushes whats the point of the model, the reson is that clip brushes don't efect the r_speeds

Yeah, just bulid the clip brushes around the model closer like they said.

Also, I don't think clip brushes stop weapons fire, so if you want them to do that too, try the 'system/cushion' texture.

They don't have to be that detailed...

I don't know what your tree looks like, but if you have a bunch of branches close together, surround them with one brush...

It's hard to tell the difference between a super-detailed clipping, and a medium detail clipping ingame...

So don't go overboard, becuase it's not neccesary. ;)
