PainGod
Ok, I haven't mapped since Q3 was brand new so I'm a little rusty... A tecnique I learned was to build a giant cube, hollow it, and you have a squared room to play with. The problem I'm having is that my floor keeps defaulting to water. Even if I texture it as a floor, my guys will happily splish-splash along the metal grating or whatever when I'm testing the map. How do I fix this???? Thanks in advance, Pg

Vorax
Are you using a custom texture pack? If you are, and they assigned a sound to the texture, it won't work. You will need to edit the shader....open the .shader file and take a look at it. That is likely the problem. Just remove the line pointing at a q3map sound. Raven didn't map these out, it caused me to have to modify 90% of the shaders I was using But, it isn't that hard to fix. - Vorax
PainGod
I'll send the file as soon as I get home, and no I'm using the stuff that came with the jk2radient download only.
PainGod
Ok I've sent the file. I just got finished building a box room. This time I built all 6 brushes using the floor1 texture, dropped an info_start, bsp'ed it and entered the map. Same exact problem. Sounds like I'm running through water whenever I am moving around on the ground (and when I wall-walk). Just for kicks, I enabled noclip and went onto the 'roof' and walked up there - water. Water everywhere! So it's on all sides of my brushes!!! I am completely stupified. All I am using is what you get with the jk2radient download. Very depressed now.... camp3r
make sure you're not using a "shader" texture. ie something that doesn't have a white border on it. some of the supplied textures have the water/etc sounds attached to them.
PainGod
Ok, that was it. Floor1, which has no ambience to it whatsoever, no color, nothing, just a dull grey FLOOR ... is a shader. What the heck did they do that for? I always thought shaders were for cool gfx, like fire or lasers, fog, lightning or power coupling stuff. Why a simple, grey floor? RRRRAAARRRRGGGHH!!!
