patchx
i wonder if Lucas reads any of the EU stuff and if he does whether it effects his vision for the rest of the saga if he paid to much attention to drivel like dark empire it would suck but if he just stuck to the cool zahn stuff and mara jade in particular it would be ok -patch
Kurgan
As to EU canon, it obviously has no effect to the movies, but it does have effect as to other EU things, so that is a canon of a sort (yes I realize that that is a gross misuse of the word canon). In any case some believe that the books mean more than the recent movies, and others, like Kurgan, think its all load of s*** and only the movies count In a nutshell, that's pretty much what I think. ; ) But that's not to say I didn't enjoy some of the EU. Obviously, I enjoy the Dark Forces series, which is EU through and through. I think that to be consistent, I have to not expect the EU to conform to the movies, and the movies not to conform to the EU, but whenever anyone tries to argue that the movies need to confirm EU material or vice versa, I may stick it to 'em. After all, George himself said he would run roughshod over the EU in the prequels and special editions if he damn well pleased, and so far, that's what he's done. And it's his right. The EU is all well and good, some of it is fun, some of it is utter crap, though frankly.

Also, Lucas didn't really run over EU in the special editions...actually in ANH there was a whole lot of EU stuff crammed into Mos Eisley... Also, as someone else pointed out, there are some EU things in Episode I (the double bladed Lightsaber) and some things coming up in Episode II Holocrons (I don't know if that really counts as a spoiler...but I've seen people get bitched out far to many times to not take the precaution).
