Tigris
Ok, here is the preview of the cantina that I have promised you. Everything else you need to know should stand in the readme. http://www.durahcell.de/JK2Preview/cantina.zip
spacermonkey
oh, I came in here to see some pics and found a map. Thx. I'll check it out soon and post some feedback, I've been looking forward to strolling through the cantina.
Tigris
Bot support is between none and really lousy, so better find some friends to play it online... And YES, I know that the water-texture is messed up in the cantina- I already fixed that in the next compile...
spacermonkey
problem with the lvl shot you included in the pk3. jK2 is not able to multiply it by 2 (or divide by 2 whatever it does to resize things) - so when I tried to tested the map in single player it wouldnt let me. I simply opened up the pk3 - resived the lvl shot to 512 x 512 (just to be sure) and that worked. I'm sure your gonna get alot of ppl testing this map so you might want to fix that before hordes of ppl post the same question. The interior of the cantina is excellent, the dark boothes and the illumination from the bar is spot on. The dimensions seem good too, just enough room for a bar and I can easily see this becoming one of the most popular maps. I know you havent finished the lighting for the outside of the map but perhaps you could create a new sky box and make it so that it was dusk with the 2 two sun's setting. I really think that would add to the seedy underworld feeling of the map. Obviously would take alot of work but it'd be fun to see a speeder parked outside in the map, or several jawa's having a siesta. Btw where did you get the font from? The signs look great. Also is it possible to make the banner that hangs down the alley way passible? currently its difficult to get past it in a hurry. Also the area around the back door of the cantina, the dip in the sand doesnt look good and I'm sure you can raise it up so that its level with the rest. Good work. Tigris
For the textures: Those nice signs came from him For the rest: I see what I can do- hopefully I'll get the levelshot fixed before I get a bad reputation Thanks!
spacermonkey
I cant beleive ppl have overlooked this, the interior of the cantina is excellent. bump*
danrobjim
I noticed (this may have just been on my PC, it has a mind of its own) just above the entrance door I'm guessing there should be a sign, all I get is a black and white -cannot find texture- box. Same for some sections on the underside of the top of the bar and the triangle thing on the bar. Also the room at the back left of the main bar I went into it but when I came out I kept running up the chair you can get out if you look at what you're doing so not a huge problem, but if you moved the chair or make the doorway larger it would be a lot easier. Finally, outside on one of the buildings there is a door that opens (sorry, I really suck at detailed explanations) but inside there's only room enough to fit a person in, is it supposed to be like this or will there be something in there eventually? Besides these three points (and the lighting you mentioned) this is a really nice map, it plays nicely against SP bots and most importantly it LOOKS like a section of a run down hive of scum and villany. This is the first map I've seen (aside from the originals) that I actually feel like I'm in the star wars world. Can't wait for the final release
Tigris
DOH! I can't believe that I forgot to include the light-textures!!! I'm sorry- I'll update the zip soon! For the chair: I will see if I can move it a bit, so that you can actually move a bit more freely around. The door outside will be fixed in the next release (although I'm really running out of things to put there- I'll come up with something, perhaps a storage room). I'm soon looking into the bot-routes in the FFA-levels and see if I can perhaps make the bot work properly in the cantina too.

Tigris
Ok, there are some old ones here But I have made some new ones while trying to get the bot to work intelligent (I failed- miserably )
sabowan
The inside of the Cantina is quite impressive so far. There's not a lot of room to maneuver, but then again, the Cantina in the film wasn't that big either. The lighting and faithfullness in architecture to the movie is particularly good! The outside could definitely use some work...textures are okay, but everything looks a little too polished for Mos Eisley. Stuff needs to be dirtier...also, the map obviously just cuts off at the edges, which I'm sure you will address. Good work so far!

Tigris
So- I just compiled the cantina again (about 30 hours on a 400 Mhz PC)- just to find out that it didn't compile right... Bad luck I guess... So I'll be starting a new compile on my primary machine tonight and see how long it takes there.
Tigris
Ok, now I have a quite nice compile again, but the lightning issue is really becoming a problem. There are areas inside the cantina that are suddenly lighted (although they were dark in the q3 build). I hope this is only because of the bespin-sky-texture. I already tried to develope a nice tatooine-sky-box, but for reasons I do not know it doesn't work. Perhaps someone has a nice tutorial on how to do this right. I added some debries on the outside and will see if I can add a land-speeder too. Anyone know of any Jawas being made? I really could add them
fabrikashon
Yep the bespin sky texture gives off some light. Also, when I played your map I found it frustrating in saber mode when going under the little awnings you have. It's not high enough to count for the third person view. Tigris
Sorry, but that's one thing I won't change. The ceilling is so low to give the buildings a realistic view. Otherwise you would find yourself being a bit small. Could be compared with a Jawas POV...
