Client/Server Mod: Before any other mods are made.

I suggest the creation of a universal client/server mod that will cover the following issues and be compatible with other mods/maps/models:

I'd like to see a few things added to the game:

A TK system - so friendly fire can be used but it kicks TK'ers.

A team-based only vote kicking system - instead relying on the majority of the enemy to vote yes, which they never will.

An in-game location/voice system where a person can communicate with simple keys commands via a menu - i.e. Tribes, RTCW, MOH:AA, etc - it doesn't even need actual voices, just ways to quickly bind text communications via a single menu with branches.

When a person team chats it tells of that person's location - this is something missing in the game and I'm puzzled as to why - for instance in Q3 team/ctf or RTCW if you team chat it'll say .. from such and such place .. blah blah.

Anti-Spam, so if a person learns to bind text or voice chats and constantly spam the server, it'll mute them overtime.

Also, the game needs to have the models animate for swimming, otherwise it kills any potential for water in maps.

Wouldn't this be useful for the game itself and all mods following?

yeah. the swimming animations can be added once the MP source code is released. no big deal there.

the pop-up voice menus can be done when the MP code is released as well (or done before by some ambitious, bright coder...anyone?). these have been done on other quake games, so they should be do-able in JK2.

Yah, I just think these features should be implemented first.

They are basically community features that make gameplay more manageable since all the frustrating problems would be dealth with via people playing on the server - TK, spam, bad players, etc.

Most likely what will happen is you'll see a bunch of models, maps, and mods, and finally people will see that these features are a necessity when trying to get a good team going on a pub, but at that point the level of frustration may go so high that they move on to other games.

You'll find a lot of this stuff in SOF 2 - except the team vote kick (which I think they should add) so they can keep people playing their game.

It makes it so pubs can be played fairly and without concerns for losers while an admin isn't present.

In fact, that's the point of it, it would do what an admin normally does when monitoring a game.

Easily enough it could be called an 'Admin Mod' and primarily work server side with other mods; though the voting stuff may require some client side download/install.

:)
