Help with waypoints...

Okay, I've read a bunch about how to do waypoints, but I can't quite get it to work. I created a stormtrooper, and then 4 waypoints and a point_combat. I want the storm trooper to follow the waypoints to the end. I got the waypoints to all target each other just fine, so I have the path going in a little circle. I even put a "target" key in the stormtrooper so he is targeting the first waypoint. I did not target the combat point.

When I start the level, the storm trooper just stands there. However, when I get his attention, he does run to the combat point.

I don't want him to patrol, so I just targeted the waypoints one way. Is there something I'm doing wrong? If someone is kind enough to take the time to download the 4k map file and take a look, I would be incredibly grateful. (this isn't my real map, it's a just a test for waypoints). Getting these waypoints is all that's holding my map from completion....

Please take a look at the map by clicking here. It is named test.map. Thanks all! -Caster

P.S. if you do take a look at my map and find something wrong, please post here or e-mail me at james@thedanco.com

I havn't had to do any targetting of any kind. Remember Cunnah said that a combat point is like a stormtrooper destination. This is where the stormtrooper will go for combat. The waypoints are how to get there. Perhaps the stormtrooper is close enough to get their himself?

Hi

try this not saying it'll work but...

put a waypoint1/2/3 you know like waypoints but with numbers at the end, these aren't used in navigation data so they must control patol routes

If you want a stormtrooper to follow a specific path and then stop, you must create a script that instructs him to go to a series of navgoals. Waypoints are used to set up pathways for AI to follow throughout a level. Point_combats are sprinkled around to give AI a choice of specific places to go, like behind cover and stuff.

no your wrong there, if you want them to stop just don't link the waypoints. Also the way points with the numbers in there suffix (the end bit) have nothing to do with navigational data
