Gidcon Posted May 1, 2002 Share Posted May 1, 2002 Unfortunately I'm not a map editor but I had an idea I would like to pose to the Elite mappers: A map that is set in a temple that is circular and has long vertical windows up top kina like a cathedral. The cathedral arcs from all sides till it meets a point at the top, kinda like the top half of an egg. A little above the floor (mabey like 15 feet) surrounding the cathedral are rooms that the players inhabit, with the back and the front made of glass so that u can see that u are on an island floating in the sky if you are facing the back of the small room. The front part of the room, faceing towards the center of the temple, is made of glass as well so that each player inhabiting a room can view the center of the temple, but not leave there room because it is encased in glass. At the start, 2 of the rooms glass doors will open and 2 players will enter the temple for a duel. After one dies another room will open and the next player will enter the battle. This will result in the other players being able to watch and cheer, or watch and boo, the players currently dueling. Or perhaps make funny faces at each other while there waiting. The only problem I can see with this is setting some type of trigger that realizes when a room is empty, so that it will go to the next room and open it when another player is not in the previous room. Or perhaps when there are not 2 players in the arena so that it will trigger one of the doors. In a way it would be like when Obi Wan was waiting while Qui Gon was fighting Darth Maul in Ep1. This would be a duel map but not with the players being spectators in a virtual world. They would be spectating in real time in real space from each room. So that each player would spawn in a room as soon as they joined the server, and have to wait there turn to duel. I think this would be a great twist for a map. Good luck if anyone takes this task.
